I recommend the Sigma 10-20 3.5. It gives you fast quiet AF (ring motor similar to the USM) and a ridiculously wide shot with out the fisheye warping. And best of all, GREAT price for the image and build quality. If I don't have money to go for a Canon Lens I will always get a sigma instead.

I've got the tokina 11-16. I love it, though I don't use it much as it is really wide.

If you're using it for indoor photography, it's pretty much the best budget lens available. For outdoor daytime shots, there's isn't much advantage gained with the 2.8 aperture. It's not like you're going for shallow DOF shots with this thing.

I own a DX Sigma 10-20mm, which I used quite a bit when it was new, but find myself using less and less often when I do shoot with a DX body. I have a Nikon 20-35mm which I use occasionally, though almost as often, I shoot at 35mm on my 35-70mm. Most of the time if I want wider, I'll simply stitch multiple images together. I've got a 24mm prime somewhere too, but I'm not a big fan and frankly the 20-35mm is roughly the same quality, so I don't see the point of carrying the 24mm around. The 10-20mm is likely to start joining the 24mm on shelf duty.

For me, ultra-wides simply don't provide a field of view I find compelling most of the time. I find them useful for architecture where you can't back up due to traffic, fences, trees and the like, but seldom am I anywhere that I find the large expanse of sky good, or that I'm able to frame with a large expanse of foreground in a way that works with an ultra-wide.

Canon 10-22 on EOS 20D. It is the best you can get on EF-S body at widest end.
here is sample image.

According to your sig, you have a full frame body. The 16-35 mm is not very wide on a crop body. Plus, it's relatively expensive.

Yes you are correct oreoCookie. I do have a full frame body, And would suggest to any one that has a cropped sensor to get the less expensive lens (10-22 for canon) or similar lens; it has the same wide angle view as the 16-35.

I use a 16-35 f/2.8L II USM on my 5DII and 1DIII, and a 10-22 on crop bodies. Other wides I have are the 24/1.4L, 35/1.4L and a cheap 28/2.8.

I, too, use the 16-35 on my FF and APS-h bodies. The Sigma 10-20 on my APS-C cams. I have, in the last couple of years, began doing some stitch work for WA shots, as another poster mentioned.

Generally, for the stitch work, it's when I know I'm going to want to print big and don't want to deal with distortion, etc in PP.
