I bought my iPad 16gb on an impulse buy on Friday in my local Bristol Apple store. I am wishing I had the 32gb one now though. Can I bring mine back to swap it?

Thanks

I said this on another thread. Just go to a store, explain why you want to upgrade. Be nice. I'm sure they'll cooperate.

If this fails, come back another day and speak to someone else, and complain about it and ask fir a refund, then buy the higher model. You have 28 day no quibble return period by law in the UK.

No you don't. If there is nothing wrong with the product you have no legal right to a refund whatsoever.

Ooopppss, yes you're right. Just looked it up. I got confused with the whole 'unhappy with your product? We will refund it' blah blah blah that you get see in lots of shops, and receipts.

Still, I'm sure that Apple will sort you out.

You can, but you will have to pay a restocking fee if you have used it. :(

i'm sorry to say that you are wrong. In the UK you can return any item to Apple within 14 days, whether you have used it or not and simply ask for a refund. You will not be charged a restocking fee, that only applies to the U.S.

UK link

This is the U.S. link.

http://store.apple.com/us/help/returns_refund?mco=MTM3NDgyOTE

note it clearly states 10% restocking only on US site and not UK.

Hope this helps. :):)

Thanks for that.

Thanks for that.

Have exchanged a few things that I wasn't happy with including eyetv (refunded) macbook pro (which I exchanged for one with bigger hard drive) and 16gb iphone which exchanged for 32gb iphone.

Just take the box and all its original contents with you and the receipt or card you used to pay for it. They will be more than happy to exchange it as long as its in stock. :):)

Presumably that only applies to the online store so that it complies with the Distance Selling Regulations.

Nope retail stores, have never used online store, oh except for Snow Leopard upgrade.

As for distance selling, the law states 7 days Apple and other companies may have 14 days or longer but legally are only required to give 7 days from date of receipt of goods. This is known as a "cooling off period". See link below. :):)

The link goes to a government website for business, specifically for the distance selling regulations and cooling off period. :):)

I'm referring to the link to the Apple Store in your earlier post.

You seemed to be posting it in support of your saying that we have 14 days to return things. I was saying that it seems to be about the online store rather than the bricks and mortar store (the thread starter bought from bricks and mortar). And that the 14 day period is, no doubt, to comply with the Distance Selling Regulations (albeit that it exceeds the minimum requirement).

You are right, it does come from the online store but is also applied to all retail sales. I know this from experience just can't find a link to it on the website as they only show info about online sales. :):)

That's very cool if it applies to all retail stores! Generous too!

I know, can be useful, don't know about other companies, but definitely Apple retail stores. Comes in handy, bought my MBP a week before the update last year, Called the store and just went in and exchanged it. They even refunded the difference, the new version was cheaper. :):)

That's great!
