lots of vpn services out there:
-nice if your vpn service has US based servers as well as other countries.
-can you log in from multiple devices
-do they have an iPhone app
-on a computer restart make sure your vpn app comes up first and in a ready to run situation so there are no gaps in your web security.
-look into spoofing your mac address, there are apps to manage this

What about ProtonMail? Starting to want to get off gmail. Are the encrypted email providers secure?

Yes, boycott companies whose business model is to exploit and monetise your privacy. And educate, educate, educate yourself about privacy and security in the digital world. Generally, users behaviour give rise to the greatest risks. Security is never a binary question it must be put i relation to your security and privacy requirements. Ultimately nothing is secure nor private in relation to digital technology.

Here is an excellent resource for educating yourself in all-matters relating to security:

Steve Gibson's Security Now

They're end to end encrypted in Sweden, one of the last bastions of privacy and security in the Western Hemisphere.

Sweden is a hell hole of surveillance, cultural marxism and crazy feminism. It's also the home of one of the most advanced SIGINT-organisations in the world, created and run by the CIA of course.

Do you guys really trust all these VPN services that are starting to pop up? I'm sure it's far more secure and private vs my ISP, but how can one really know for sure their privacy is kept hidden.

No, many of them are created and run as fronts for intelligence agencies.

How would a non-Proton user decrypt an email?

You need to have a shared secret in order for it to work. It's handy for communication between two Proton mail accounts though. In general, for practical use I prefer asynchronous solutions such as GPGTools where you don't have to have a shared secret.

What's wrong with CERN ?

It's packed with insane scientists "worshipping" Lord Shiva (not knowing who he really is) because he is the Lord of destruction. And destruction is cool to psychopaths. Read up on CERN, there is a massive amount of (mis-)information about CERN on the net and some gold-nuggets as well.

The rule of the thumb should be don't trust anyone or anything.

*biggest eye rolling emoji ever* I know a few physicists who worked there and while at least a couple annoyed me with their political views none were psychopaths and most were atheist so that kind of excludes worshipping Shiva. Otherwise I follow manu chao's policy.
