I don’t disagree with this, however, consumers generally believe that a ‘higher megapixel’ count means a better camera. And that’s exactly what companies like Samsung want the consumer to believe, because they realize that consumers generally don’t understand what a smart phone camera is composed of. When you start discussing the Technicalities of exposure/optical zoom/telephoto lens, etc., None of that translates anything to consumer that doesn’t understand what it means, but if you notice during these keynotes, they focus on the mega-pixel count, because they (consumers) believe a larger number symbolizes a much better camera.

Samsung has actually made good use of the high MP count by using Pixel binning to capture more light. And judging from reviewers photos, it seems to work great.

Samsung release their phones 6 months after Apple do so they can copy the camera setup.
I seem to be missing the 100x zoom and 8K video recording on my 11 pro max. Do you think I should return it? Must have got a lemon.

There is more to a camera then the MP count but it does not mean a well implemented high MP camera isn't superior. Looks like the S20 Ultra takes incredible photos with more detail then you could ever imagine on a 12 MP shooter.
Whilst I agree there is more to a camera than megapixel count from what I’ve seen the S20 ultra is taking great pictures and videos many of which are better than the iPhone 11 Pro in the comparison videos I’ve seen.

Agreed. Normally I would dismiss these crazy high mega pixel counts that we see on midrange phones like xioami which have only produced mediocre results. However whatever Samsung have done clearly seems to have worked. The picture samples so far have been excellent.

Same here. Obviously whatever computation they're performing is working. I think bragging about 100 MP is kind of silly but it's hard to argue with the output.

I switched from my Galaxy S8+ to iPhone X recently. I got a new MPB and Apple Watch, so integration was the main reason for me. That being said, the difference in the OS isn't night and day. Android has come a long way.

However, I never did like the way notifications worked on my Samsung. On the iPhone even in low power mode (I use it sometimes) it never misses notifications, which is amazing.

I use my full frame Nikons with really excellent lenses for serious photography, and don't mind hauling heavy camera gear around - good exercise lol :). So phone cameras are for casual snaps/capturing a whiteboard after a meeting, which all phones do quite well these days. So, camera isn't such a big factor for me, although I understand it's important to a lot of users. I certainly don't mind the rather dramatic improvements compared to my old iPhone 4 :).

I never get missed notifications on Android devices. Although sometimes, I wish I had that problem. ???

My issue with iOS is many times when I get a message, It'll be in the middle of other notifications in the tray, even though the notifications on top is much older.

On my Samsung notifications work well in normal mode. I only had issues in low power mode. Interestingly two of my colleagues have had this issue (delayed notifications in low power mode) on multiple Pixel versions!

I agree there should be more customisation options in IOS for displaying notifications, and perhaps better defaults to handle the display of a large number of notifications. The default ordering is not chronological.

I never really messed with the default optimized or low power modes. I usually put it on performance mode and sometimes if I turn the brightness down, it will show I'm in optimized mode. But in reality it's more like custom.

I got my new iPhone 11 pro max 64gb last week and its been amazing experience so far.
Here are my thoughts

1. Phone screen display is gorgeous, not QHD like S20+ but i am happy with super XDR display, color was too yellowish with Truetone display ON, so i had to turn it OFF.

2. Camera result is awesome, Portrait selfie is also sweet :D

3. Automatic syncing with my Macbook pro 2015 was smooth. All of my contacts, bookmarks in safari, photos and music songs were synced very smoothly in no time.

4. Screen time is great, not 12 hours which some of the guys are claiming in this forum. I am still getting 10 hours screen time with light photos activity, surfing youtube and WhatsApp with 4G connectivity mostly and occasional home WIFI, daily 3 hours call time and 1 hour gaming Real Cricket 20 ;) I am so happy with it nevertheless :D

5. Call quality is crispy and clear, and i am loving facetime feature, i never used it before

6. New IOS gestures are also very cool. I dont know why people doesn't like them. I am huge fan of IOS platform when it comes to stability and updates.

7. One little issue i had was usb cable which has usb-c connection, unfortunately my macbook is little old, there are no usb-c ports. Airdrop however helped me alot in transferring photos from my macbook to iphone.

I never stuck with Samsung that long but I briefly owned one for about 18 months when the S7 came out until the iPhone X launch.

The S7 was an amazing device but eventually I came back to iOS

just had too much stuff tied to Apple account and in the end, a phones a phone. I only wished Apple had AoD on their devices but jail breaking solved that for me.

the phone started to slow down and had all these issues suddenly pop up so I decided going back to iOS was the best for me.

there is nothing wrong with Samsung phones but iPhones are much less stress free to use in my own experience. Hope you enjoy OP

Wow what a hate fest on Samsung phones. I was an early adopter of the iPhone and used it for years (even at the beginning when their internet connection was truly pathetic if not a joke). Years later I changed to a Samsung S8+ because Apple insists on a more rigid standard of screens. When I got the Samsung, I was able to add storage which was a bonus (music and audio books), a great screen and was the same day of purchase able to adjust the screen/menus to what was easiest on my eyes. However, there are of course some things not so good about the Samsung I have but it is mostly a good experience due to the flexibility that is not present on the iPhone. If I had to get a phone today, I might get an iPhone again or venture into another Android phone as the differences are getting smaller and smaller and then it becomes simply a matter of taste.

It's not crap but a long shot but the hype definitely dies down after a while, IOS just showing me my whole email when they come in is refreshing.

Everything popping up on the homescreen combined with how damn awesome face id is makes using the phone a breeze but I won't lie samsung being able to play youtube while browsing or using another app makes me miss samsung.

Or downloading a movie legal or illegal lol

Or music

Both have their highs and lows if possible get both and change sims when needed.

OnePlus? You like? Dislike?
+1 for the OnePlus! The 8 looks promising. Finally adding wireless charging! Out ranks the Pixel in my book
