Well Jethro, you now have a solution to your problem. It's not a checkbox created by Apple, but long-time Apple users like us have no problem fixing our own problems.
Thank you for that. Though one of the reasons I went Apple some time ago is because I had little interest in continuing programming and more in creating. That is, I wished to use the tools to create, rather than create the tools. Since Apple is reverting back to "fix it yourself or do it our way!" -- with lots of cheering on this thread -- I'm trending toward going back to PC since it's a much better environment for tinkering than Apple (Computers, used to be).

No, "choice" was not just a word Jobs used once, it was a design philosophy they generally adhered to. It's what rose them from the ashes in the 90's. Since his passing, they have consciously abandoned this philosophy in favor of Shiny New Toy philosophy. You even acknowledged they're not the same. As you can see from some fan boys on this thread, it's worked -- if it's new, it's gooder than the last! No doubt they've made huge $$ with SNT philosophy, but it's as shallow as the customer it appeals to. Once they've driven off their previously loyal base, they'll be left only with the Shiny Toy crowd, and no one else to blame when they inevitably abandon them.

Then point me to the design examples under Jobs where user choice was actively supported. Browser choice to be at least on the same level as MS back after losing the monopoly browser fights is hardly anything more than what people expected. I mentioned a good bunch of examples in my earlier post indicating the lack of said choice. I’d be interested to hear where Apple’s offering of choice/options positively stood out from the crowd.

Programming is creating and I used an Apple tool to create that script. I have zero experience writing AppleScript but it took far less time to google parts of that script than you have spent complaining about not having a solution. Its funny to see you saying that you dont want to tinker but are moving back to the PC so you can tinker.

Regardless, you now have the solution to your problem.

You might want to check your own tone before accusing others of the same. You declare anything but the Shiny New Toy as "outdated" -- when it's not -- then get huffy when it's pointed out you've been sold a bill of goods... Oh yes, you "need" these things! Right. Maybe some self-reflection on whose will is actually governing yourself is on order -- yours or Cook's? Mmmkay?
 Ignored.
