My iPhone is syncing "genius data" and "safari private browsing data" every time I sync now... It's syncing 63 genius items every time I sync. Is this normal?

anyone else have this? i'm just wondering if it's normal to be doing the same thing over and over again.

Same here, though the number of genius items it syncs varies between 30 and over 100. I can't find an answer, though I didn't look very hard since it's barely adds any time when syncing over USB.

Same here. Same number of "Genius Data" every time I sync (think it 69 or so)
confirm: it's exactly 69 items.
is there any pref file or cache to delete, to that this annoying thing stops?

I have the same thing happen during a sync. The number of genius items varies for me too, averaging around 80.

Yes

Same here, "syncing genius" and "safari private browsing data" show up in every sync.

I'm guessing (no evidence, just super wild guess) it is a bug in itunes, but I suppose it could be on the iOS side as well. Either way, hopefully it will get fixed in a future update.

just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.

i just got a mac book pro and i thought maybe it wouldn't do this anymore, but it still does it. doesn't take as long to do it, but it still does the updating/ genius files. and its always the same amount about 350. Also safari private browsing as well. Im thinking i should copy all my songs and playlists to my new mac book. restore the iPod touch and have it set up for the macbook from the beginning.

anyone have this problem after restoring and/or using it on a macbook pro.

2797 Genius items?

My sync takes forever. It reports it's syncing 2797 Genius items. The number grows every time I sync. WTF?

Not that I see it as a major issue, but it is doing this with me too. I figure it's actually acting as designed... anyway my last sync at 1800+ genius items.

Syncing private browsing seems really odd though. Isn't private browsing meant to be... private?

i've had the problem after a restore. restored my macbook pro AND my iPhone 4... still no go.

It still does this for me after I restored the iPod touch. I also get another bug though. It says updating 426 files. It's always same amount of files that are updated. I don't get why since nothing has changed in files to make them update!

i just tried to change the files and convert them and see if then it would help, but it doesn't plus the files that are always saying updating are store bought. Also just so you guys know. i do manual sync, so i don't get why it does this. Its either iTunes or 5.0 bug never had this on 4.x on my iPod touch.

Can someone please figure this out before I lose my marbles???

Yea, this has got my attention too.

Are they uploading the websites we visit to the iCloud? Or to Apple themselves so they can invade our privacy?

I mean, everyone is up in arms about CarrierIQ stealing our data... what exactly is this "Safari Browsing Data" stuff all about? Sounds like the same thing.

Same Issue - syncing genius data

I care not what or why this step is... but it is taking FOREVER. During my most recent sync, this step says it is syncing genius data on 1,627 items. I want to toss the computer through a window. Can someone please recommend how to speed this up or eliminate it? Thanks!

Mine is always 138 items. I try to remember which songs they are, but they go by too fast. It's definitely The Smiths, The Rolling Stones and Wham.

Maybe it's partial to British acts?

:confused::confused::confused:

Getting Warmer!!!

To everyone having this problem, check your duplicates. (in the File drop down menu).

It's got something to do with how Genius handles duplicates....

Still investigating.

You should be able to use "Store > Turn Off Genius" to turn Genius Playlists off in iTunes. I don't think you can turn off the Genius Playlists for iOS devices without also turning it off for iTunes.

The syncing is data for Genius Playlists. If it is taking a long time, then there is probably a bug (or your library is much bigger than mine).

The Safe Safari Browsing Data is actually a cache of Google's website blacklist. You can probably turn this off by going to "Settings > Safari > Enable Fraud Warning > Off" on the iOS device. But this will also turn off the blacklist which would warn you about sites that have known malware.

As syncing changed quite a bit in 5.0, I would not be surprised if there were bugs with syncing this information down. If it has been happening to me, I haven't seen it since I let it sync over WiFi while I'm asleep.
