I'm having the exact same problem kevin889 had - email works great, texting and phone too - but Safari and all other apps are down for the count.

I tried the same approach of 'creating a sidekick username' through customer support, but this didn't get me too far the few times I tried - apparently I should have had one already. Making one up doesn't work too well either :)

At any rate, the main reason why I'm posting this is that the last representative I talked with said there was a massive outage of data services and anything that was web based/used port 80 is down for the count. The rep wasn't able to give me a concrete date of when service would be restored, but if it wasn't back by Wednesday they would be very surprised. The rep also mentioned that I should probably ask prepaid for a refund for the days that I wasn't able to get on.

This may not be the case for everyone, but I just figured I'd pass it along. Best of luck to everyone, and if it turns out that I do need to find a workaround, I'll post what I can find (I'm a software engineer ;))

The best thing to do right now is to just wait it out and ask for a refund when the outage is over.
 
just a thought if they are in fact blocking.... I bet if one was to find a cheap unlocked sidekick you could get them to take the block off and then pop back in the iphone?

That might work. I am hoping it is an outage, not a block. I don't want to go through that...
 
Just wanted to add that gmail and MobileMe work ok just slower (for me) but exchange mail is a no go.

I'm going to try and be patient and see what happens before I look for an alternative.
 
I talked to tmobile and they said something about my permissions were off and that they would reset them...as soon as I got off the phone, data was back working!

ETA: I do have a sidekick plan..

I just contacted support saying that i had a sidekick and they informed me that there was an outage.
 
Quick Update

Last night I spent about 2 hours or so going back and forth with T-Mobile. They were very nice and helpful, but unfortunately they tried resetting everything they could on their end and we had no luck. My account was credited for the past few days of outage (and then some), but I don't think there's much else we can do at this point.

Apparently the outage is no longer here, and there's something specific to Danger's servers. I'm going to see if there's any way I can impersonate a sidekick or try some form of tunneling and/or proxy and I'll see what I can cook up. More to come soon.

Anybody have any luck otherwise though? If so, please post how you did it :)

Some had luck with a proxy looks for the links above...
 
T-Mobile is offering unlimited text and internet for $19.99 with the flex month to month plan. I think I'm going with this because it's still cheaper than AT&T.

Flex Month to Month phone plan = $29.99
Unlimited Data and Internet = $19.99

$50.....This seems to be the least expensive for me at this point! Let me know what you think!

I gave in and switched to that plan for my 2g iPhone. Data works fine but the plan doesn't have unlimited text. It has 300 anytime mins, free N/W and unlimited data
