Just to let everyone here know, through the weekend, T-Mobile has this phone for $49, free after rebate, free activation and free over night shipping. I ordered on Tuesday and got it yesterday.

Once I got home from work, I took my AT&T sim and placed it in the Nexus and it worked perfectly with no changes needed. After rebooting, the phone was able to use data, send MMS and make calls.

This is a nice alternative for those who don't have $349 to spend for the 16GB because you end up getting it for free on T-Mobile and it's unlocked.

The top two tests are using T-Mobile. The rest are using AT&T. Bad speeds on AT&T.

Yeah that was what I was guessing, you are not getting 3G on ATT, looks like what Edge speeds? I guess its fine for basic email and text however.

your ATT speeds are not normal. I get between 5-7 on their HSPA network. If you have to sign a two year contract, how is that a benefit? The benefit is that the phone is $299 unlocked and contract free.

Obviously but these are the speeds that I have always gotten since the original 3G iPhone. Nothing has changed all these years.

Being on T-mobile now is something I've never experienced before, it's even faster than my DSL which I get about 12-15Mbps.

Tp prove what my AT&T speeds are here in Denver, here is my AT&T sim back in my 4S. It still beats the hell out of what I was getting on my Verizon 4S before I quit them to come back to AT&T last month. On Verizon, I had no data at home and dropped calls day and night. I quit Verizon and sold the 4S.

I thought all Nexus 4's were the same ? Is unlocked by default to work on ATT & T-Mobile in the U.S and many European, Asian, and Canadian bands ?

The T-Mobile Nexus 4 isn't that good of a deal, because they still handcuff you into a contract and 2yr commitment, **** that. The Nexus 4 is really designed best for Pre-Paid services with no contract, like Straight Talk or Go Smart for $45/Month unlimited. Over two years cheaper to buy the Nexus 4 outright for full price @ $299, and $45/Month no commitment.

Or, it's cheaper to but the phone for $49, get the rebate and the phone is free, break the T-mobile contract, pay the $200 fee and you are done.

A two year contract is not bad considering I'm still going to have a phone during those two years. My speeds on AT&T (1-3Mbps) is garbage and T-Mobile has about 17-20Mbps so I am fine. Straight talk would be the same crappy AT&T speeds so who else could I go for? T-mobile.

Go with Straight Talk T-Mobile SIM, same price and everything as the ST ATT SIM, uses T-Mobile 42Mb HSPA+. Or even T-Mobile's new "Go Smart" pre-paid plan, $45/Month unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, 5GB/Data. Both are no contracts, free of the handcuffs.

I'm on a T-Mobile contract so I'm good.

The reason for bad speeds as reported on speed test on AT&T is cause of your APN configuration. You need to change the configuration. Just remember T-mobile already configured ur acct for the nexus 4. AT&T has not.

Even on my illegal $10 unlimited feature plan. I used to get those weird speed tests of 0.01

Than I got 7mpbs when I changed the APN. Feature phone data speeds are limited to 7mpbs.

With the $30 smartphone data plan when I configured the APN (I have 4 AT&T lines). I can get 12mpbs consistently in Orlando area.

Then how do you explain how I get the same exact speeds when I place that sim back into my 4S which is where it came from when I bought that 4S two weeks ago after activating that 4S at Radio Shack on a new two year contract? Those are my normal AT&T speeds and have been for years no matter what phone I have purchased on AT&T.

You area certainly may have network capacity issues but there is truth in what aneftp says. I transferred my sim from my iPhone to my Nexus 4 and by default it uses the cingular.wap APN settings which do not take advantage of HSPA+ capabilities of the phone. I manually changed my APN as described in the XDA thread and saw data speed on AT&T go from 1-2 Mbps to 5-10 Mbps, depending on time of day. FWIW, I never saw more than 5 Mbps using my iPhone 4S.

I already tried several APN settings but I'm willing to try some others. I'll give it a try and post back my results.

You're not staying with T Mobile? With those speeds, I would be kicking AT&T to the curb. ;)

Oh wow another Denver AT&T user. AT&T 3G/4G is the WORST here. I got speeds as high as 11Mbps, but during the day, it hovers around 3mbps. LTE is much better, with speeds between 10-30mbps. I got 54mbps when LTE was first launched here.

It's 3G that's the worst. On my iPhone 3GS, I would get about 0.05mbps down. With a T-Mobile prepaid sim card in it from the same location, I get about 3mbps down. So AT&T has HUGE capacity issues here, with a vast majority of its users on their 3G network (as it seems).
