The reason for bad speeds as reported on speed test on AT&T is cause of your APN configuration. You need to change the configuration. Just remember T-mobile already configured ur acct for the nexus 4. AT&T has not.

Even on my illegal $10 unlimited feature plan. I used to get those weird speed tests of 0.01

Than I got 7mpbs when I changed the APN. Feature phone data speeds are limited to 7mpbs.

With the $30 smartphone data plan when I configured the APN (I have 4 AT&T lines). I can get 12mpbs consistently in Orlando area.

I tried those apn settings in those threads and get 0Mbps down, 80Mbps up.

My problem is, with those exact settings in my APN, I am not getting data at all. Speedtest can not connect. I verified that I had the correct settings three times. The thread there says those settings will only work if you have LTE enabled on your sim, I do not.

Oh wow another Denver AT&T user. AT&T 3G/4G is the WORST here. I got speeds as high as 11Mbps, but during the day, it hovers around 3mbps. LTE is much better, with speeds between 10-30mbps. I got 54mbps when LTE was first launched here.

It's 3G that's the worst. On my iPhone 3GS, I would get about 0.05mbps down. With a T-Mobile prepaid sim card in it from the same location, I get about 3mbps down. So AT&T has HUGE capacity issues here, with a vast majority of its users on their 3G network (as it seems).

Yes, those are the same speeds I have been getting since the 3G phone came out and I have had every iPhone except the 5 since then.

In the UK there are different settings beside those for the APN. One cannot just take out the sim from an iPhone and put it in an Android phone, the settings for the tariff have to be changed from an iPhone to a smartphone for it to work. I can change my tarrif online, not sure if that is the same in the US.

Here's a screen shot from my tariff from O2, I have gone into the account and have taken the option to change, once that is done I went to customer services who texted me my APN settings;

I could also up my limit to 2GB, for an extra fiver a month.

U are doing something wrong. Those speed test results are consistent with an APN that's configured incorrectly to use the app.

More importantly. Lets forget the speed test app.

If u load chrome with AT&T sim. Do the pages loan fast? Or do they take 16 seconds to load?

What data plan are u using?

It's the sim from my AT&T iPhone 4S so it has the 450 minute unlimited data plan.

When I used those APN settings, I had no data, Chrome would not load any pages, Twitter wouldn't work etc.

I don't need to keep trying to get it working. I bought my Nexus with a T-mobile contract so I am fine. I'm tired of messing with something that is not important.

I have horrible AT&T data speeds on my iPhone while at home but when I am out, I can get 3-5Mbps download. That's all that matters. I would probably have those same speeds on my Nexus if I tested them when I am not home with the AT&T sim.

I had a Verizon 4S and had the same horrible speeds while at home and dropped calls. I finally cancelled phone after one year this past January.

Just to let everyone here know, through the weekend, T-Mobile has this phone for $49, free after rebate, free activation and free over night shipping. I ordered on Tuesday and got it yesterday.

Once I got home from work, I took my AT&T sim and placed it in the Nexus and it worked perfectly with no changes needed. After rebooting, the phone was able to use data, send MMS and make calls.

This is a nice alternative for those who don't have $349 to spend for the 16GB because you end up getting it for free on T-Mobile and it's unlocked.

If you have AT&T, how did you get the N4 free from T-Mobile? That is for new customers using their service. I have T-Mobile and cant get that deal, though i havent tried either.

EDIT** nevermind, i see you have both now.

By opening an account with T-Mobile.

Also, for those posting in thread about my speed issues on AT&T, last night in my area away from my house, I was getting near 10Mbps.
