I am also getting slow Instagram feeds on T-mobile with a 7 plus. IG videos pause every 2 seconds most of the time on LTE (ran a speed test at the time and was getting about 16 mbps). IG pictures load more slowly as well compared to AT&T. Just made the switch a couple of weeks ago, and it's a little annoying. IG ran smooth like butter on AT&T. Youtube videos are also playing at lower quality majority of the time even though I changed the "cellular data use" setting.
That was exactly my issue, but that is no longer the case. I noticed it started running smoothly (most of the time) ever since they added HD streaming. It still is slow every now and then but for the most part its normal
Will you be charged extra?I messaged (through the T-mo app) about the situation, and the rep said my account wasn't set up for HD. They said wait 48 hours, and that should help. I was able to go through the app, enable HD on, and in a couple of hours it seems much better. Time will tell!
Will you be charged extra?
It seems to have fixed my issue as well (enabling HD video).
I better not be charged extra! I confirmed with 2 different salesmen at 2 different locations and 1 rep over the phone that HD wouldn't be extra before signing up. I forgot to ask the reps I most recently talked to though regarding this Instagram/HD video issue if I'd be charged extra.
Getting this Instagram slowdown fiasco as well.
Amazed that HD needs to be turned on, yet most are square videos clips so how can it be "HD?" Anyways, good thing I'll be able to turn on HD in 10 days, when the One Plus promo goes into effect on my account.
When choosing the One Plus promo online, T-Mobile warns of possible charges (didn't say how much exactly) when changing the plan immediately in a billing cycle. Therefore with 4 total lines, I elected to wait until the next billing cycle to prevent any prorated billing issues... 10 more days!
I remember reading that too, that you'll incur charges. I think it would if you had picked another plan that would have added more to your bill, like something with gogo or international plan. Sounds like they don't prorate it since they are unlimited plans.
But this being the same cost point, I don't think there would be an extra charge. Time will tell unfortunately.
I agree it's weird that the fix for this is to turn on HD when it's not actually HD. I wonder if this has anything to do with net neutrality...the plot thickens!!
