disagree.. when im doing some of my work things, i can do them with a tablet but surely it would be frustrating even trying to do them with a phone.

Lmao

First time I've used that here. Bigger phones help with ever day use but could never replace a tablet. Not for my needs watching things on a bigger screen or posting on forums.

I think Tablets are a great invention. When I bought my first device I forgot that I have computers.
For me a phone will never replace a Tablet/Netbook/Notebook/MacBook as I prefer the iP5SE size amongst others because of portability.

Now we use our 5.1 to 6 inches smartphones every single day as our computers and of course laptops and desktops for heavy duty work like video editing, 3D work if neaded but there is tablets like the iPad and Android tablets which they are only giant smartphones with out the calling feature.

I use to love tablets and was a huge fan of them and they was my main computer but my opinion has completely changed about tablets after I got my Samsung Galaxy S6 phone that has a amazing 5.1 inche display and have been using it for over a week now and it is a beast of a smartphone haha!! :D :D

Now I don't really think tablets especially the iPads, Android tablets are not that good anymore because they are just like my Galaxy S6 but just have a bigger screen and set it and they don't offer tablet features that is not available on there smartphone counterparts or anything different.

And there are lots of people(including me) that thought tablets are the future and will kill the Laptop and desktop but as it turns out so far it seems completely the opposite way round the laptops are killing the tablets and by that I means hybrids(just basically glorified laptops) Surface Pro 4, Acer Alpha Switch 12 and HP Spectre X2 and lots more and many more people are buying hybrids to replace there old tablets(rather then replacing with a newer tablet) and sales figures from sales reporters like IDC proves that and the tablet sales including the iPad are declining just like netbooks did and usage of iPads are going down as well, So People are using there tablets less and less and not buying them which it is terrible news for the tablet market and tablets manufacturers like Apple/Samsung/LG/Google more.

And to make things 20 times worse so far this year in 2016 big tablet makers like Samsung, Sony and Google haven't announced and released there high end/flagship tablets yet, not surprised tbh, they will never be able to make money out of them anymore and I am sure Apple will abandon there iPads in the future because of the poor terrible sales and the people are not buying and using them anymore.

And all so it does not help that tablet makers like Samsung, HP, Lenovo are focusing making hybrids just glorified laptops with a ability to use it as a tablet) like the Surface Pro 4 then stand along/pure tablets like the iPad, a Galaxy Tab S2, Things are definitely looking terrible for the tablet market.

So after getting my Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphone and been using it for just over a week now, After 3/4 years of using giant smartphones(tablets), I won't be using them anymore and I will just buy a laptop and use my smartphone Galaxy S6 in the future.

In my honest opinion about giant smartphones(tablets), I think tablets are completely useless, crap and pointless because the phones we have are good enough and big enough and still very portable and on the other hand laptops are very portable and very powerful which tablets like the iPad and Android tablets will never have that appeal anymore and hopefully due to the declining sales tablets will definitely become obsolete just like the netbooks did a few years ago!!!

I really hope tablets like the huge IPhone(oops I mean the iPad) and Android tablets die and disappear in the future just like netbooks did(a few years ago).

Anyone think tablets are completely useless and pointless now?? Do you agree or disagree?? And who wants my iPad Air 2 haha?? :D :D
If you like the s6 experience, have a go with a galaxy tab S , super fast, super smooth, a very light version of TW , and possibly the nicest screen ever used on a mobile device...
My year old one still flies like the day I got it. As content consumers go, it's immense. The video watching experienced is unparalleled. It may change your mind on Android tablets..

many... the best tablet i have ever had was/is Galaxy Note (tablet, spen, phone). (and it was my phone aswell, paired with a smartwatch and bt-headset).. "all in one"

nowadays i would take Pixel C (if not gps or nfc needed) or Galaxy tab s2. but im still using my beloved Note tablet - althought it is already 4yo and the screen is outdated compaired to my air2.

Pixel C is ruled out for me on acct of no SDcard slot and paltry storage. If no slot, at least give us some storage models that are halfway decent.

Samsung hasn't updated Galaxy Tab S2 in what...2 something years now. That would have my likely pick had they updated it.

Issue 1? Tablets are useless, unless they have
1. a screen with a pen?
2. a fixed keyboard?
3. any keyboard you can take with you easily on a cover
4. none of the above, they're all useless?

Well, the Chromebook Pro looks good. A tablet like that would be useful but it's a lot heavier than a tablet. When does a tablet become a laptop? This tablet hybrid has been around forever - iPads have always had keyboards, and there's the Surface Pro series. But really it's a laptop and you have no choice - you have to take the keys with it. So I think it could be a new benchmark for tablets. Tablets must have good keys and good trackpads to be useful. What do you think?

Issue 2?

Well there was some opposition on my post about using the Yoga (another "tablety" "laptop").

But I found this and it looks like I am right because it's in the BIOS, not the softwares and it can't be changed.

http://www.geek.com/chips/spy-agenc...ng-backdoors-built-into-the-hardware-1563801/
So then the question is why would you trust a Chikom built ARM like Rockchip? They are putting Rockchips in these Samsung Chromebook Pros. So what are the chances they could be compromised OR does Samsung test them and ensure this would never happen OR is there a risk that it could happen?

Don't agree. I find my iPad very useful even though I don't use it for writing and therefore don't have a keyboard for it. I would probably find it a bit more useful if I upgraded to an iPad Pro though (for annotating documents using the Pencil).

Issue 2
Re Lenovo's so-called BIOS Rootkit,
1. It can be removed
2. It was only present on some Lenovo computers (notably not present in Think-branded products)
3. It's no longer installed on new Lenovo computers

I have no idea what you are on about!

Your post makes no sense.

He thinks all Lenovo products, and actually all products from Chinese companies, feed all of your information to the Chinese Government. No proof is needed.

As a trucker, I love my 12.9. This is all I ever needed out here on the open road, but when I bought my mbp in 2009, they didn't exist. The speakers are great, the screen is terrific and it's very portable when I get home. I also am able to do some iCloud-pages work if needed. Expensive? Heck yes, but still my greatest toy I ever bought.

I think this thread has pretty much proven that tablets are not useless after all.

If anyone is comparing them to a laptop with a keyboard or graphic designers pen devices then they need to realise they are not the target market for the everyday tablet. Not everybody buys tablets for productivity, in fact I'm sure the vast majority don't.

My iPad is my computer. I browse, watch video, some games, email. Thats it.
I dont do work on it because I dont need to.

Some people need that stuff. But a lot of people just want a nice consumption machine.

I've got a great laptop and a great phone, so I hate to admit it but my wife was right - the iPad sits there redundant unless we are on holiday!

But then my cousin uses their iPad for almost everything, it's their laptop that sits uselessly.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
I just have to say it again, love my iPad Pro. I find it faster then my iPhone 7, possibly a placebo effect but it updates quicker. Thinking about the pencil but I'm no artist, however I would have a play with 3D modelling and animation, are their any 3D animation apps for the iPad Pro?

The early scuttlebutt on the Surface 5, when it debuts in early 2017, is some nice upgrades.

I wonder how Apple will respond if they have something to announce in March. Stay tuned.
