It would be similar to letting your location dictate the auto-lock setting.
Oh, sure, FaceID and the passcode both stay active, one would just unlock using one or the other when they get home and have a shortcut they created that detects the location and changes the setting.

The desire is to have the option of it automatically switching to no authentication needed while at home.

That would be the “option” of automatically switching. Like many other things users may desire but are not built-in, those savvy folks that know how to use shortcuts would have no problem setting providing themselves this option. AND, it does appear to me, like you say, that it should be simple for Apple to just expose that “settings” action via shortcuts.

That’s kind of what that guy’s video was all about, but everyone was acting like his request was some outlandish edge-case.
