I was thinking that same thing when I got to that question (because as you point out, the Mac OS began with 7.6), but I think it's clear what the author is referring to, so stressing the semantics is probably going overboard.
Well, then the supposed correct answer, Workgroup Server, isn't right either. Workgroup Servers did use "Mac OS". For example: Workgroup Server 60: Technical Specifications. The correct answer is Network Server, which shipped with AIX. For example: Network Server 500/132: Technical Specifications

Apple Servers Technical Specifications

34, not bad.

Oh, and I question #23 "What country was the PowerBook 2400 released in?"

The PB 2400 was released in 1997 in the US. A 240MHz version ("Mighty Cat") was released only in Japan. (Mactracker)

Still nice quize :)

You scored 27

You've had a Mac since it moved to PowerPC.
You are well on your way to knowing more about Apple.

33 for me.

I've used Macs on and off for 20+ years, but the first one I actually owned was purchased in 2001.

I did okay -- missed a couple here and there.

However, one that I missed is incorrect on the quiz.

Question number 22 which states: What computer was the 20 th anniversary Mac based around:
a. PowerMac G3
b. PowerBook 3400
c. PowerBook 165
d. PowerMac 5500

The correct answer is PowerMac 6500 and not the PowerBook 3400.

The TAM (which I have -- cool computer) is based on the motherboard from the Power Macintosh 6500 with a 250 MHz 603e processor.

Yes, it did have the same 12" active matrix LCD, ATI 3D Rage II video chipset, and trackpad from the PowerBook 3400. However, the MB is the key.

I modified this question a little to address this.

Actually you are right - the workgroup servers are the rebadged PowerMacs sold with ASIP. Sorry for the mistake!!

I'm glad everyone has enjoyed it. :)

I think it would be better if left the question the way it was and had the PowerMac 6500 as one of the answers.

The minor items from the PowerBook 3400 really don't mean squat if you know what the TAM is all about.

23 here. Whoops.

From the quiz: "You have rode Apple's sucess wave"

Presumably, "rode" = "ridden" in proper English?

Aced Section 1, 3 wrong in Section II, and a whopping 4 wrong in Section III. Looks like I ran out of gas lol.

Not up on international releases anyway and I concur with previous protests about the PM 6500 and the 20th Anniversary Mac. I still have a 6500 hanging around (hasn't been touched in years) and If I remember correctly, you can swap out the motherboard from the 6500 and it will fit right in a TAM like it was made for it - because it was! And the original Macintosh's operating system software was never known officially as the "Mac OS," as has been pointed out.

If you really want to test your "Apple Knowledgebase" here's a challenge:

Apple's plans to develop a portable Mac date back to 1985. What was Steve Jobs' suggestion at that time for the name of such a "portable Mac?"

No multiple choice this time...

Edit: If you don't know the answer, you probably laugh when you find out. That's the only hint.

The MacBook?

I scored a 29..pretty well considering I don't have a pre-powerpc mac.

Let's see if there are any more responses to this over the weekend and then I'll reply to all in one post (and ID the correct answer if it comes up) so I don't have a bunch of separate posts that say nope...nope...nope, lol.
