I've travelled 12 time zones and successfully checked:
20" iMac
24" LCD
30" LCD
Mac Pro tower (with the 'guts' in another suitcase because of weight).

You'll want a good suitcase, good luggage lock and good 'padding' for the iMac. You'll also probably want to remove the stand (it's not too hard).

I'm planning to do this with a 27" iMac in another 6 weeks.

Curiously, I just brought my Mac Pro back to sell (4 years later) and the case got a bit bent, mysteriously. The way it's bent is hard to understand - the suitcase is fine. After putting the RAM cards and HDDs back inside, everything's fine - just cosmetic outer damage, and that I hope to be able to bend back and correct. Never had an issue checking an LCD - but I'm a pretty careful packer. Heavy-weight sweatshirts provide good padding.

k. Today brought an iMac 21.5" from Atlanta to Brazil. I've used an iLugger and i did quite well throughout the flight to rio de janeiro.

You carried it on, right?

I think checking the 27" is the only option, no carry-on restrictions would allow a carry-on that huge. It's basically suitcase sized, but a bit thin.

Hi there,
im planning to do the same, bring my Imac as hand bag using an Ilugger. My question, what did people say when you went through costumer services? im affraind because if I have a problem there's no other way to solve, just check it in.

Did you have to remove the stand for the iLugger? It's hard to see in the website photo if the stand is packed with the computer or not,...

I know this is an old post, did you success? I'm planing to do the same but from Atlanta to Chile.
