Installed it. Looks nice. Lots of maps and very polished. Thanks for the heads-up!

I voted for TapDefense because the game play is better. Yes, FR's graphics are amazing but I've always chosen game play over pretty graphics.

We have even created a fan site with tips and trick for so cool game. Sure not everyone did more than Easy level. Try if you want to know more http://tapdeftips.com

The problem with tapdeftips.com is that it is obsolete as TapDefense has recently changed in a December update.

Most of the reasoning in tapdeftips simply no longer work.
Try it step by step and you will see.

Well another would be TapDefense fan site just bit the dust!

I just bough FR and I love it, I also have TD and had fun but I prefer creating my own paths. In both games I just wish there was a way to call the next wave of enemies in like in computer Tower Defense games.

but is there a way to see the strength of your weapons and the health of your enemies? I like that info in TD on the iPhone.

That's part of the reason I dislike FR. It doesn't show you the towers statistics or the enemies actual health. Without this information you can accurately come to a conclusion whether a certain upgrade is worth it at a certain level. Another thing is the quality of the towers are pretty elementary. The prices for the towers are illogical as well. The game is also impossible on hard level unless you use the bungling technique, which I don't think is the way the game is meant to be played. If you must use bungling then the argument for liking the ability to choose the pathing is discredited since you are making one straight path. Also FR lacks any kind of gold management. It looks really pretty, no question, but the game does crash at times and, therefore, not worth the $4.99 price tag.

at touchmyapps, we are torn. my mate prefers field runners and i tap defense. but he prefers flashy graphics whilst i prefer straight getting to gameplay. td has some good parts to its graphics but not the best details and the creatures do not look like anything really. the sounds are bad and the new menu system with zooming buttons and scores is childish.

however, it remains the most addictive tower defense game i have tried. it is immediately accessible and has a good balance between cartoon and non cartoon action. the interest system is great and the research system will change the field in this genre.

Now that I'm getting the hang of TapDefense I like that more than FieldRunners, in FR there is more emphasis on quantity than quality but I feel like Tapdefefense is vice versa.

We kind of addressed this in this week's podcast, since our core subject was Tower Defense Games and we talked about both Tap Defense and Fieldrunners as well as a number of the other major TD games. By and large though, it comes down to personal preference- if you don't want to spend any money Tap Defense is great, and it would also be the one to go with if you prefer fixed-path TD to mazing TD (though if you really like fixed-path and don't mind spending a few bucks, I'd recommend 7 Cities, especially since it's on sale at the moment...). Fieldrunners is more polished I'd say, but being a maze-building TD game it's going to appeal to some people more than others- it's definitely worth the money though.

I agree. It isn't close. FR is a lot better in all aspects. The other one is free though which is nice. I have both and like both of them, but FR takes more skill and the graphics are really nice.

I can see how someone new to these type of games would prefer the other one though. FR takes a lot more skill like I said. I would suggest someone new to this type of game to get Tap Defense and if they like that one then get the best one: Fieldrunners.

Yes, like many posters have said, FieldRunners seems to have way more strategy. Instead of building towers endlessly on a maze already created, FieldRunners is much more harder, and you have to actually build your own maze.
Winning doesn't depend on your towers that much, it also depends on your maze. (except for the helicopters:D)

I like bob games but there is a flaw in TD. After you get the booster tower you can upgrade it to the max and do this with 3 in the same area. Put a shock tower in it and it does 100% damage. 1 hit kill every time. This needs to be fixed.
