Hey Macrumors, I'm happy to present Tape It.
Tape It is a recording app for musicians and songwriters. It's for every musician who currently uses Voice Memos. If you're tired of scrolling through New Recording 161, 162, and counting, then Tape It is for you.
Features:
- thoughtful and clean organisation that helps you find your recordings again
- great recording quality with stereo recording, lossless compression and support for external mics and audio interfaces
- easy private sharing of recordings between you and your fellow musicians, your manager and A&R person
Since a picture says more than a thousand words:
Organization
- automatic instrument detection
- photo and text notes (just take a picture of your amp settings)
- favorites
- mixtapes (like folders, but better)
- multiline waveforms for long recordings
- private sharing
- cross-device syncing and cloud backups
- proper audio player with Media Center integration
- full VoiceOver support (we have several blind users who use it as their equivalent of the photos/camera app)
Recording
- big, simple record button - no projects, just hit record
- markers
- lock screen widget (you can start a recording straight from your lock screen)
- stereo sound
- aac and lossless compression
- external mic support
Import, export & collaboration

- external audio interfaces
- lock screen widget
- $6/month
- $49/year
- $99/lifetime
Account
Tape It requires an account to use (for syncing, backups and private sharing), but it's a simple sign in with Apple flow. All data is hosted in the EU with in-transit and at-rest encryption.
Try it if...
...you've been looking for a good app to record song ideas, band practices, music lessons and studio/songwriting sessions.
...you need a field recorder with excellent audio quality for all the times you don't have your Zoom recorder around.
...you realise that the iPhone is already used as a serious microphone in the music and film world and that you don't need a dedicated mic/audio interface setup to record your guitar amp in studio quality.
We have a ton more ideas on our roadmap, but now I can just encourage you to:
-> Download Tape It on the App Store
