I second your post. I don't see anything close to what diesel is talking about. Paranoia, perhaps?

They changed their T's & C's......

In other news, we’ve learned the hard way that you need to be really careful what you put in your Terms of Service. The most popular (and therefore, first) comment on our App Store page is the one that provides an out-of-context (and now obsolete) quote from the section on, “Your Intellectual Property Rights”. I’ll be the first to admit it sounds pretty scary, but it was intended simply to make sure we had the right to copy and publish your content in ways necessary to do all the stuff you’ve come to expect of Zenbe: backup your data, make content you share available to the people you want to share it with… that sort of thing. Regardless, we’ve updated our Terms to be less threatening, so hopefully there’s longer any cause for concern.

While it’s unfortunate that this is the first comment users see for our app, I can’t tell you how pleased we are at all the nice things everyone has had to say about us. This has been a great first week for us and the praise and feedback has been a real moreal booster. So, “Thanks!”

I bought omnifocus but I'm really not happy with it.

I have one task I set a due date for and then once it was over due realised actually it can wait till tomorrow so changed the due date, unfortunately it's still showing up as overdue, also I'm finding that the notify isn't showing up till after I've gone into the app. so if i have 3 things due they only show up on my homepage after i've opened the app then when i close it again.

does anyone else see this behaviour?

I'm not an expert on the Iphone SDK by any means, but, I believe that these apps cannot run in the background so the badges are not able to update automatically. I noticed this with Weatherbug as well. It will not update its weather alert badge until you open the program.

I am using Things and this is why the developers decided not to include this feature at all in their program.

Still using ToDo and quite happy with it. I love the Sync feature to Remember the Milk. Sitting on a plane and being able to see and work on a to do list now rocks.

I had a friend ask about lists with alarms. Anyone know an to do app that can trigger an alarm?

Oh yeah, good point, thats damn annoying but of course part of the sdk.

I think I'm going to go with ToDo and RTM also. Even though I said in this thread I'm not a big fan of "everything in the cloud." As long as ToDo also keeps my tasks local on the iPhone I'll be happy.

From what I've read RTM can send you reminders via SMS and email. So, I'm planning on using that functionality as an alarm system. I believe for a 3rd party app to do alarms is not allowed in the current SDK.

Can you see if ToDo has the ability to check off the "remind me via SMS" button in RTM? I'm doubting it but maybe it will come in future version.

This seems like an obvious feature for a ToDo/Task Management app but none of them seem to offer it. I am using Things and a colleague is using ToDo and both apps seem incomplete at this early stage. I like the Things interface but it doesn't sync and doesn't support tags (one of the big features of the excellent desktop version). ToDo looks like it syncs quickly and accurately but it doesn't support a couple key Toodledo features that would make me switch, namely, support for contexts and subtasks. Nevertheless, these are very promising productivity apps that will probably be pretty powerful down the road.

Thanks, I haven't checked this thread in a while. YES, they changed their terms of service due to comments such as mine, so my original post probably looks like misinformation now, but it wasn't at the time of the posting. I find it funny how Zenbe makes it seem as if we the potential users took their terms "out of context" when they only have themselves to blame for using language in their terms that gave them far wider range of usage of our content then what they probably intended. Well at least they know now, that we're not all mindless idiots who don't take time to read the fine print and that most of us if not all of us take issues of privacy and content ownership EXTREMELY seriously.

However, with that said, they did change the terms of their usage and for that, kudos to them.

I've only used it for two days, but I'll put in a vote for Things.

I really like the organization of "Scheduled" "Today" "Next" and "Sometime" -- it matches the way I think. Too many apps force me to put a deadline when what I really want to say is "this is the next most important thing for me'"

The main thing I would like to see added is priority -- I would like to be able to order items within those categories.

I ended up buying Things, and am now using Things on my Mac. One of the big reasons was exactly what you listed. With old apps I was constantly setting arbitrary due dates so stuff would show up in the 'today' type list, Things finally frees me from that.

The app is just really well designed, they made a lot of pragmatic design choices that work out really well in real world usage. There are more full-featured apps out there, but some of them feel more like using a spreadsheet to me than something like Things.

Obviously I am eagerly awaiting the update with synchronization.

Howdy!

I see nothing that would even remind me via SMS. I do not use the due date feature. I am more of a priority type. Even changing something to a date shows me no reminder option.

Another feature I would like to see ToDo have for future versions is color coding for priorities, days till due, etc.

Well, I went into RTM on the web and it seems that the reminder function is more of a global setting for all tasks.

You set it up in RTM under your account settings tab. You can have reminders sent to email and SMS at a particular interval, like 30 minutes before the task.

This isn't ideal but I think it can work for me...

A better solution would be the ability to customize the reminder timing at task level, similar to what we have for events in a Calendar. I may have one taks that I'd like to be reminded about 2 days in advance and other tasks that I want a reminder in 30 minutes.

I may end up buying one of the ToDo apps, but I'd prefer a full-featured desktop/iPhone app that combines contact and calendar data in one and syncs with MobileMe. (We used to call them PIMs in the old days - I'm 55.) Now Software has been working on one called NightHawk for a long time, but haven't announced a release date, AFAIK.

This is what Pocket Informant will be:
http://www.pocketinformant.com/products_info.php?p_id=pocketinformant_iphone

But it will not be ready until "fall 2008" and will not sync with mobileme.
