Telegram Messenger this week released a new update for iPhone and iPad that adds a new chat translation feature, network usage statistics, new emoji features, and more.

Telegram channels have become very popular with groups of various nationalities and languages, and with the arrival of Telegram v9.4.2, if you're a Premium user, it's now possible to translate entire chats in real time as you scroll them or receive new messages.

If you administrate your own groups, this update means you can now control whether group members can send nine different types, like Photos, Voice, and Video Messages. It's also now possible to quickly create group and profile pictures from animated emoji and stickers with a new Set Emoji option.

Elsewhere, there's a new Network Usage section in Settings that allows you to check how much of your data was spent on Telegram, and it's now possible to adjust which media should be automatically saved to your Camera Roll from chats, based on size, type, and source.

As for what's new in the world of emoji: There are new emoji and sticker filters like "love" and "celebration" to help you quickly find the ones you want, and premium users can check out trending emoji packs in the emoji panel and zoom in on individual emoji.

Telegram version 9.4.2 is available now on the App Store for ‌‌iPhone‌‌ and ‌‌iPad‌‌, with a new 40% saving for users who pre-pay for a year of Telegram Premium ($39.99).

That’s the reason I haven’t upgraded in a while: Apple just doesn’t have enough emojinnovation. They spend all of their time on software QC and bug fixes, not the core features such as more emoji. When was the last time we had an emoji release Timmy?

Say what you will about Telegram. It's currently the most feature-rich cross-platform messaging app with the most intuitive UI and the easiest registration process. It's the gold standard that everyone else is trying to emulate.

Who cares? Telegram lost all excitement when we found that the messages were not, in fact, as secure as they claimed. Signal is much better as is iOS. Stay away from WhatsApp as they are owned by the devil incarnate.

The only thing Telegram is used for is YouTube scammers. As in “TeXtMeoNTeleGram123-456-789 says: you are my winning subscriber!”
Telegram is getting better and better. Fastest growing messenger. Great time to do the first ever app purchase or subscription.
It is not encrypted by default as some other claims. But do you believe those companies that they have best intentions with you data. That is valid even for Signal. I have not heard good about origin of this App. It can be just defamation and slander but i consider every other messengers as data mining apps or purely spyware.

Its video memos alone make them superior, just depends on what you care about.

What did you usually watch on YouTube? Scams?

Unfortunately, Telegram can‘t be trusted anymore as reported by Wired.
I've not understood why Telegram became so popular, when it has Russian roots. Reading here I guess I see why: features. But I value privacy more than that. iMessages seems more secure than Telegram and anyone who's life or livelihood may be at stake should be using Signal... and a late model iPhone.

Yet iMessage has become the most convenient way to spread scams in some countries.

Cool.

Now that you have started taking money, how about employing one or two Mac developers to write you a proper Mac app, instead of using this abomination called Electron.

Even just porting over the iOS app would be a lesser evil.

After 30+ years, Mac users should be used to the fact that Mac is a niche product and is treated as such by most companies.

Telegram is the best app of its kind. What such a great service they provide.

That is a ridiculous article, it states no facts, just conjecture and at the end it says... maybe it was spyware, maybe it was something else. The fact remains there have yet to be any documented cases of Telegram being breached.

You must not have your settings set correctly. You can very easily stop spam messages. As

Telegram is encrypted by default. All messages are stored encrypted. There has never been a documented case of Telegram encryption being breached. True, it isn't ETE encrypted by default, but you have the option of using that if you are overly paranoid or on a clandestine spy mission.

It’s not a DM. This is in the comments and happens so frequently that many content creators are addressing it in videos. Davie504 just made a video about it.
I have no idea what you're talking about. I've been using Telegram for years and don't have this issue. Under settings/privacy set everything to "My Contacts". If you're talking about a public group that allows unlimited public comments then by definition you're going to get spam. That happens on every single platform and isn't something unique to Telegram.
