Do you have to register to see photos?

No, I think it's some kind of redirect shenanigans. Kinda how like on google.com the URL that's shown at the bottom if you hover over a link is not what you get if you click the link. There's some kind of switcheroo going on. For example, if you paste:

http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/...8-D41D-4C99-A03D-EEFDD160CFC4_zps34tmzqnu.jpg

into the address bar, instead of loading a .jpg image it redirects to:

http://s561.photobucket.com/user/tr...D-4C99-A03D-EEFDD160CFC4_zps34tmzqnu.jpg.html

It does this even with javascript.enabled;false but if I put the link in a file and load the file it works fine and simply displays the image. From there I can right click and View Image and it won't redirect (i.e. it shows the image, which I thought was the whole point of photo bucket). So, they're using some kind of browser "feature" I'm not familiar with. Safari doesn't do this, btw. Thanks for the input!

Yeah, it's a javascript type image viewer to allow you to scroll images.

Have to check this at home but I went to your first link in Firefox here on the MP at work, got redirected to the second (as you describe) but I right-clicked on the image in the viewer and selected 'View Image' and in doing so it kicked me to the image directly (as in what you are expecting to happen in the first link).

It's the same kind of deal as MacRumors is using here when you view photos. The image box comes up over the post and you have to click on the "Show image in real location" link to see the image directly.

If you are not seeing the image when you click on the Photobucket link what may be happening is that that you have it (the script that runs this little viewer thing) blocked - depending on if you're using a plugin to block things or not, such as NoScript, Request Policy or uMatrix.

I don't think it's javascript, because with javascript disabled it still does it. And safari (with javascript on) doesn't do it. I think it's some kind of "feature" supported in newer browsers. Also, safari will show the correct link in the status bar when you hover over a google search return. TFF shows a fake link that gets replaced if you click on it.

I'm not saying it's a bug. This is probably a standard thing that luddites like me don't get, but I thought there might be some fellow luddites here that could clue me in. Thanks again.
