That's why I said "should." That thread is about a particular Samsung that has issues. In the same thread another provided performance data showing no degradation of their SSD running for years without TRIM.

Didn't heard 840 Pro has any issue so far. The one that has issue is the 840 Evo, and that's about slow READING performance on old data, not writing issue.

And the 840 Evo issue has been fixed with newer firmware - although reformatting the drive after upgrading the firmware isn't a bad idea.

I have five SSDs, 3 types. 1 - SM951, 1 - 840 Pro, 2 - 840 EVO, 1 - Series 840. Trim enabled. No R/W issues with any of them.

The 840 EVO and the 840 had problems although only the EVO received a firmware 'fix'. It was more of a brute force hack than a fix though but it more or less addressed the problem. The 840 was left high and dry.
The 840 Pro is an excellent drive and does not have any issues.

Fortunately this was a good learning experience for Samsung and was the only blip in their rather excellent SSD track record. I still think they're above and beyond the best SSDs on the market.

Anything Sandforce based should be avoided in my opinion.
