I just came across this YouTube video and I can't believe the comments:

A week ago Joshua Fluke did a video on Elon Musk, where he criticised him and now he's getting bullied by Musk's fanboys.
I couldn't find much about his phone but well… I don't think this will kill Apple, iPhones or even Samsung. I can't understand why people worship Elon Musk. He's actually a pretty awful person.

Well let's see shall we.
He hasn't managed to build anything like the numbers of cars he said he would even years ago and they are nearly bottom for reliability, his solar tiles still don't exist- and the ones that he bought catch fire- and his Starlink costs over $100 a month.
So how's he going to produce 1 billion phones, by when and what OS is it going to use?
I think he's brilliant but he's into disrupting the market and stirring things up and I don't take a lot of notice of what he says until it arrives.
MS haven't even got close to doing it. Google's attempt at hardware isn't bad but hasn't changed anything. Nokia had all the advantages and couldn't do it and they are people that know the business.
Has he actually been hiring good phone people? I haven't seen anything about if so who's going to design this phone for him? It's not as easy as it looks and I think he's more about sticking a finger up at Apple (or two if you are English) and manipulating the stock price, than likely to be producing a great phone.

I do not worship Elon Musk. I am not a TSLA fanboy. But I certainly do not think, nor do I think that there is reason to believe, that Elon Musk is an "awful" person. You must really hate Steve Jobs and Bill gates too. Founding a large successful corporation and employing thousands of people does not make a person "awful" -- if that is what you mean. I think it makes that person "productive" and in some cases "innovative."

He is. He has a ****** personality and mistreats his workers. Steve Jobs did too. He often abused his workers. I wouldn't work either of them.

Lots of very successful business people who become icons in their industry have grating. aggressive personalities and treat everyone around them and that work for them cruelly and abusively. That's Elon Musk.

Are you suggesting that business success is the only measure of character we should judge a person by?

No. You are saying all that stuff -- not me.

I am just contesting the OP's knowledge/belief that Elon Musk is such an "awful" person. I find it strange that much of the Musk hate has only arisen in such a prominent way after his offer to buy Twitter.

I am also wondering why the OP would gratuitously add that statement in a thread purportedly about a TSLA phone. Musk's personal characteristics have nothing to do with the pros and cons of a TSLA phone -- same for Steve Jobs and the iPhone actually.

As for the phone, it looks okay but I think it will have trouble disrupting a mature market with a few very large players.

I wouldn't say he is brilliant. He has some vision, he is kinda eloquent, he is willing to take huge risks and first and foremost he is ruthless.

Firing employees is never an easy thing to do and him yelling at employees ... these probably do not make Musk an "awful" person ipso facto unless you're the disgruntled employee and it was truly undeserved. These are news reports after all -- not affidavits. These allegations do not constitute illegal or immoral conduct (something I, personally, would point to as being examples of awful conduct). They just mean he is difficult to work for -- which perhaps might lead to a better TSLA phone (see Steve Jobs).

The misogyny reports are, for sure, a bad thing if true ... agree with you there. But these particular kinds of revelations are often made for any number of reasons. Are they true? We have no way of knowing. But, thank you for sharing these news reports as the basis for your comment.

You are all aware that this is nothing but fantasy fiction, right? Tesla has announced nothing there is no evidence they plan to ship a phone, and if they ever did it would be simply an Android phone in a nice Tesla-designed enclosure. Can't see why they would ever do it. Videos like this are produced for the views and the ad-rev, they have no basis in reality whatsoever...

I'm happy he's making things happen that normally wouldn't get done via usual business channels (electric cars) and is innovating in the market. These were things that Steve Jobs did to shake things up and I respect that. But otherwise he's become insufferable.

Just more disposable products headed for the landfill like any other. They'd be better off spending the $ and building a minimal OS from scratch, otherwise it's just more junk, like all the rest of this stuff.

I couldn't care less about the need for Americans to find a jesus in everyone everywhere.

I’m fairly certain his engagement numbers are through the roof. Intentionally. :) Folks on social media are just looking for engagement. Being antagonistic is one way to get it so, I’m sure he’s quite happy to be bullied!

It's too bad Tesla's phone won't be running the iOS. They're kinda late in the market now.
This is it, he is really late to a mature market. But SpaceX and Tesla have shown us that he can plan long-term, and keep investing and persevering until he succeeds.

If he is using Android he is offering nothing new. Can he create a new OS and disrupt another market. I do hope so.

This is true. There is no Tesla phone and will not be one. If I remember correctly Elon came out over a year or two ago and noted this was a fake rumor.
