'Smooth as butta'

Not really that surprising though is it :)

Same here on my iMac 2Ghz 2gb Ram....

Hold on there were a copule of sections where I noticed a bit of jumps. Firetruck going fast etc..

BUT here's what I found most interesting. Download the 480p version and compare snapshot to snapshot there isn't the HUGE leap that I thought there would be.

Yes on the outside landscape shots, like looking out across manhattan etc there was noticeable differece in the fact that you could just about make out the windows on the buildings, but in every other close up shot (people talking/interacting etc) and most films are made up of of them there wasnt a drastic improvement.

I think most people (not us techy nerds) will have difficulty seeing the leap from DVD to HD-DVD/BluRay except in a few circumstances. It's certainly not the leap from VHS to DVD. Which then makes me doubt whether either BluRay or HD-DVD will succeed.

I posted earlier on this topic, saying that my MacBook Pro would drop the frames down to about 12 a couple of times, but I guess I wasn't clear by saying that it still ran perfectly smooth. Just because the frames drop doesn't mean there is any type of "jerking" in the playback.

play the HD 1080p trailer only!
http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/wtc/hd/

post your specs as well

i have a 1.83 MBP with 1gig of ram and got a considerable amount of dropped frames while playing the trailer.  :(

you would think that with dual cpu's and a x1600 (which supposedly accelerates decoding of H.264) that it should run smooth as butter....guess i was wrong.

i'm really interested in seeing how the "regular macbook's" handle the WTC HD trailer!

I can only play it on the smallest size, cause anything else goes bigger than my screen. Is there a way to shrink it?

24fps with no drops on my Intel iMac. Looked great.

To resize the movie, just go to "View" and choose one of the size options there.

I did the 480 one now, just to see how that would run.
I got a solid 11 fps.
(please note that my G4 733 with 896mb ram could not even play the 1080 one)

Is everyone playing it actual size or the size of your display?

I'm playing it the size of my display. 15" Apple ADC moniter.

But can anyone answer my question? How do you check framerate in quicktime?

24fps right on the money. never changes and ran flawless. I have a few other things up and running (terminals, ftp, mail, browser, itunes(stopped), ichat and adium).

Make sure quicktime is not running in Rosetta for you Intel Mac users.. I had mine running in it and I was dropping fpa bad. After I took it off and closed quicktime it was 24fps non stop.

Movie looks really good.. Can't wait for it to come out. Very interesting...

This conversation brings back some memories from 1994 when I was so excited to see crappy thumbnail-sized video playback on Windows95 beta. I'm convinced that HD video is a commonplace in 2010, but until that, it's just early adopters' excitement ;) in three(ish) years high definition begins to really gain momentum.

That said; I want to be able to edit multiple HD video streams real-time. That'd rock!

On fit to screen, it runs perfect, stays around 23.9. At actual size, let's just say it gets ugly. :D I am still running the stock ram. On a side note... I was trying to run the battery down all the way the other day. I opened 8 quicktime movies and they all played perfectly and I also had itunes running with visualizer in the background. That was the first time I ever tried anything like that, I was actually shocked they played. I am not sure if my older macs would do that, but, I have been pretty impressed with this machine. With that said, I am not a gamer at all, so the graphics card is fine with me. The hardest I will push the machine is FCE or Aperture.

I'll save the hassle of downloading it and say... no. or, more appropriately,

1/24.40 fps.

1ghz emac, radeon 7500

not quite 24.40fps.....23.89 consistantly on my XP laptop (1.4ghz, 256 megs of RAM, i82855GM)

Did I mention I got these amazing results on the 480p?:p

I got ~5fps on the 1080p.

P.S. The movie doesn't look good.

Hmm, so why is this?

Why is is that other people with my specs run it smooth but mine is at 18fps??

My system:

MacBook Pro 2.0Ghz
2GB Ram
100GB HDD

WTF?

Oh and why the hell does mine not have any audio!?
