v5.5 .ipcc - carrier.plist editing

For those of you who want to edit the v5.5 .ippc file (carrier.plist file inside) for Bluetooth/USB tethering as libertyforall posted above, ...more info regarding editing the carrier.plist file is here:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/793244/

I did both edits (Tethering [APN 0 mask to 49] and Group MMS to Yes), and the tethering (both Bluetooth & USB) works very well! :D

So youre saying TETHERING on 5.5 DOES WORK?

Did not have tethering "hack" enabled prior to 5.5 carrier update (installed today). So, if anyone is in the same boat, here is a simple way to get both..

1. Installed carrier update via https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/792894/ (jb 3.0 3gs)
2. Rebooted
3. In iPhone, navigated to http://help.benm.at/cfgs/us_att.mobileconfig
4. Accepted config
5. Reboot
6. Both MMS and Tethering are active

I had been looking and waiting patiently for some solution to get tethering on my 3GS, 3.0.1 with legit 5.5. I dont really need tethering, but now that i had a taste of MMS, i wanted the whole package. But i really didnt want to hack anything.

I dont know why, but i saw your post, and went to the Benm site. I did the config, rebooted. and Tethering is working great! was tethering on bluetooth with my macbook pro for a while. havent tried usb, but im sure it works if BT does. MMS and visual voicemail also works.

Can someone tell me exactly what the Benm config thing actually does? Are there any detremental effects to the phone? Such as reduced battery life or poor performance?
