And there it is finally! Textify 3.0
I worked so hard on it, here is what's new:
  • Edit results before export (typically, before PDF integration), this one has been asked a lot :)
  • Import scanned documents/pictures directly from your iPhone/iPad's camera, into Textify, using Apple Continuity
  • Improved macOS integration
    • Import images/PDFs into Textify using the "Open with..." functionality of the Finder
    • Drag&Drop improvements: now also supports D&D for PDF page(s) from the Preview app
    • Copy/Paste improvements for a perfect experience
    • Keyboard shortcuts for efficiency
  • Improvements to the OCR Zones functionality with PDF integration: when integrating text into PDF, it nicely understands the layout from the OCR zones and integrates accordingly (typically, columns). Some improvements to the UI as well.
  • Improvements to the OCR process with images/PDFs with transparent background. The OCR results are now also stunning on these images.
  • Many small overall improvements
➡️ Textify 3.0 on the Mac App Store

I believe this app is becoming full-featured with time. At least I hope so, after the days & nights working on it!
Feedback is much appreciated, I very much rely on you for the improvements. Thanks guys!

Hello guys,

any feedback on the new v3? Happy to make some changes if necessary :)

Hey guys, what would you think of Texitfy supporting the new macOS Siri shortcuts? Would this help you in your workflow?

Not sure to be honest as I haven't yet figured out how to incorporate Shortcuts into anything, really. Not sure if it's my lack of imagination but I find them to be so severely limited on iOS that I have not yet found any use for them at all 🤷‍♂️

I have not yet looked into Monterey's Shortcut implementation or v3 of Textify for that matter because I was on vacation until last night so I cannot comment on their respective usefulness just yet. I have various Automator workflows integrated into and paired with Hazel rules, most of which rely on self-written scripts or helper applications. Given Apple's consistent and ongoing endevours to dumb down macOS I fear that Shortcuts is going to be the end of that.

Managed to get my hands on a 2017 iMac just so I could upgrade macOS to use this app, although I don't have it set up yet. Which OS would be better, 10.15.x or 11.x?

Is there a maximum resolution that the images can have? Is there an optimum resolution where you reach a point of diminishing returns?

macOS 11.x will give you better results, definitely.
The resolution, no, it does not matter if its high or very high. Except for performances. Higher resolution images will just be slower to analyze.

Quick feedback, as promised: I love the fact that I can integrate Textify into my OCR scanning workflow now that it supports "open with". Works as expected, thank you.

If I could make two feature requests for the next release:
  1. Add automation, as in "automatically perform OCR on a document once opened". Ideally also save to preconfigured folder automatically with no further user interaction.
  2. Remove the "Success" popup notification teling me my document has been saved. I know it has been. I clicked save.
Other than that the integration of Textify into my workflow has been a huge time saver, thank you! I no longer use Acrobat to scan one-sided documents.

Textify v4
Hello guys,

Huge step ahead for Textify. As you probably guessed, it now integrates with Siri Shortcuts! o_O:oops:
It means that you can create many shortcuts with the actions provided by Textify. It also comes with predefined shortcuts to use directly from the Finder's right-click menu > Quick Actions.

I can't wait to see the shortcuts that you'll come up with!

Oh and there are many other things:
- Image rotation is possible directly in the app (right-click on the image)
- Display the recognized text formatted or non-formatted (raw) for a more convenient copy/paste
- Text integration improvements when a PDF physical size is defined
- Export improvement
- ... and more

Feedback is appreciated!!! Thank you all

Just tried the free version and it worked great, so I went and purchased the pro version for life.
Thank you for making a program that does exactly what I was looking for.

? Wow! Thank you so much for the feedback. Super glad that Textify is useful for you!

Small but important update: Textify 4.2
Here is what's new:
  • You can now paste (CMD+V) images directly from the clipboard, even screenshots taken with the macOS screenshot tools.
This sounds basic, but actually, this important feature was missing. Previously, only images copied from the Finder could be pasted into the app.

This is how Textify becomes even more useful for productivity :).

Big update for Textify, now in v5:

What's new:
  • 5 new languages recognized by the OCR (Japanese, Korean, Ukrainian, Cantanese, Russian). Requires macOS Ventura
  • Automatic language detection, useful when your documents are not always in the same language. Requires macOS Ventura
  • Greaty improved Black & White filter
  • Improved the output filename for a faster workflow
  • ... and more
I hope you like this update, I know I do :). Let me know what you'd like to see next.

Textify became very useful for productivity, especially with the Siri Shortcuts integration that allows you to convert PDF files to searchable PDF files directly from the Finder.
