Thank you once again for a very helpful answer to my honest question. I hope one day i can be as helpful to you as you have been to me... Anyone here willing to risk it all and take a chance by naming an actual month as an educated guess for the refresh?

My educated guess is going to be July. I think it will be released sometime after lion is available.

As far as previous answers you have gotten... Armchair commandos.

Thanks for this. I'm gonna stick it out until the end of July... If there's no refresh i'll probably just get a refurb from apple online.

I can deal with the ACs as long as there's a few good people on here.

Thanks again

I have a 27" iMac and a 13" MBP, but I'm selling my MBP for a 11" MBA (waiting for refresh) mainly due to size. I use my laptop when I travel and 11" MBA can do exactly what I need and it is smaller and lighter then my MBP. So this configuration works for me.

I went into an apple store earlier to have a look again. Was very tempted to buy then and there... Spoke with a young sales chap - he said if i wasnt in a rush it would be worth waiting a few weeks to see what happens. So i'm waiting!

Like most here I have a MBA 11" Ultimate and I'm VERY happy with it. I bought it for the small footprint during travel, etc. It it just what I needed. BTW: I considered an iPad, but since I have both an iPhone & older iPod I thought the MBA would be better for me.

BTW: IMO, To each his/her own whatever fit's your lifestyle better! :D :apple:

maybe it's just me, but i don't see how so many people even consider the iPad2 vs the MBA. I have both and they clearly serve differnet purposes. The MBA is a real computer, the iPad is more of a surfing machine.

Maybe it's because i'm a touch typist and i can't type fast on the ipad

Yes!!! completely agree even thought it contradicts my post! lol

I don't see any reason whatsoever for anyone to get the 11"...

1) People don't need reasons to buy things. If they did, a huge percentage of all the expensive stuff in stores would never sell. But it does.

2) MBA 11's "feel" much more portable than the 2" measurement different from the 13". You can carry them around is something that looks smaller than a laptop bag, and they fit better in narrow seating rows and on airplane coach class tray tables.

3) A bunch (could be hundreds) of really smart developers were carrying 11's around at Apple's WWDC event. The specs are plenty good enough for most users and software developers. Rumor is 11's currently outsell the MBA 13.

4) Since they're newer and closer to the size of an iPad, they look cooler than the 13".

My MBA 11 has become my primary machine, I use my MBP 13 much less often.

Apple will most certainly make it very difficult to choose between the 13" and the 11" .

I use an 11" now , but would switch to a 13" if it's beefed up enough......maybe :D

Nah, I see your point...
but after years of lugging a heavy pc around I love the idea of a powerful computer thats only 2.3 pounds!

I had the same exact thought as the OP then I went to the apple store...

I had the same exact thought as the OP then I went to the Apple Store and compared the 11" vs the 13". The form factor of the 11" is what makes this machine unique. When I pick up and use my 11" MBA ultimate it makes me smile!!!! I think it is a perfect portable computer that I can do real work on like MS Office and writing code in XCode. The other difference for me is I already have a 4 pound laptop from work that I can use if I need power hungry applications. Since I got my MBA I almost never bring my work computer home. I look at this is a curve where X is the compute power of the machine and Y is the weight/size of the computer. The 11" MBA is in the sweet spot for me of the curve. It seems to have plenty of computer power for what I need to do and the thing is so light I can take it anywhere. Before you decide to discount the 11" MBA I highly recommend that you take a look at the computer in the Apple Store.

My question for the 13" MBA owners why not just purchase a 13" MBP?

The last few posts make a lot of sense. The 11 MBA would NOT be my only machine as it's too small to work on all the time, for me. I need a big screen and power for home use. But for going on the road, it is the only way to fly, (literally) airline seats, in hotel and most of all, making hotel presentations where you are doing keynote/PP and looking at the projector screen most of the time. It is such a great hotel machine.......
