In march all apps that don’t complain with all ipad rateo will be taken down, so even for the lazy ones won’t be more than 3 months.
My understanding is that they won’t be taken down, they just won’t be allowed to update.

If you use a lot of games, then yeah, it will be a problem. App-wise, many apps use auto-width, so even though they might not be updated you won’t get large black bars, just the skinny header and footer where the device curves. Almost all the major video apps have either updated or gone auto-width as well.
What about those who have the 12.9 are there still the black bars?? Or is everything fine since it’s the same screen res since 2015? I know a lot of this has to do with the home bar.....speaking of .....why the hell is the home bar so gigantic on the new iPads? It’s nice and small and unobtrusive on the iPhone X series phones.

Maybe, but looking at the 10.5" and the 11" in comparison, the 11" in height in Landscape mode looks shorter giving an impression to the viewer that it shows less content than in the 10.5"
This what I noticed in an Apple store today. I am surprised no one really brings this up more often. I am about to go from 10.5 to 11 and this my biggest concern.
Any ideas/opinons about that?

There's nothing to bring up. As mentioned before, there's near zero difference between the two devices in height in landscape.

6.29" screen height on the 11" vs 6.30" screen height 10.5"

All i can say is that coming from an ipad mini and 9.7” ipad...the difference in screen size for media consumption is amaaazing. So much more immersive on the 11” with the thinner bezels and wider aspect ration. Really diggin it.

Yeah I'm coming from a 9.7 IPP and it is so much nicer!

I’m very apprehensive because of all the extra black borders on apps and games I’ve been seeing. iPad Pro is my main home computer and I use tons of apps. Developers are very slow to update apps on iPad in general too.

It's annoying but not a show stopper IMO.

When I wrote this point, I had not physically measured the 10.5" and 11" iPad Pro but the other day I carried a measuring tape to the store and I measured it physically, and both to me came out to be 16 CMS in height in landscape mode. But yes I agree the 11" iPad Pro does give an illusion of being very cramped when viewing in Landscape mode compared to the 10.5" which may not be the case in reality but it does give an illusion of that !!

Thanks for the feedback. It is not an illusion. If you take the exact same safari page there will be more to read on the 10.5. 1 more line or a few words. I’ll take a picture this week when I go there to buy the 11.

I think along with me @Greenmeenie Did a lot of comparison and research before pulling the trigger of buying the 11" iPad Pro so I am sure he will have something to say about this, if the 11" iPad Pro shows less content compared to the 10.5" but based on numbers and figures the 11" is just short by 0.01 CMS from the 10.5" iPad Pro so I dont know how much difference does it make ?

For me, the 11" looks gorgeous when viewing in Portrait Mode as shown in these Pictures. In Landscape Mode, I do not see a big difference though there maybe just a tiny miny difference in the content displayed height wise in the 11". But is a negligible difference.

Well, to be honest, I never really compared the 10.5” & 11” iPad Pros at all. I was actually all set to get the 10.5” as my first iPad Pro when the new ones were announced. But I immediately knew I was going to get the new model soon as I saw them. Not only for the new design, but as an artist, the new Apple Pencil alone sold me. So all my comparisons were between the 11” and the 12.9” not the 10.5”.

The 11” iPad Pro is a much nicer, more modern version of the 10.5 that I've ... I knew that the bigger screen would be great, but I was a bit hesitant because ... The new Keyboard Folio is nicer than the previous Smart Keyboard ... few iOS-specific modifier keys (Home & Siri) and bring back the “media mode.
Your sentences regarding keyboards do not make sense

12.9 2017 vs 12.9 2018

Apps on 2018 may well have black borders because of the curved corners
