Do you think Chelsea will win the WSL. With Arsenal dropping points against Spurs last week.
Barcelona is outstanding to me from what I've seen, and in statistics. We'll see?

An excellent result for West Ham, clinically defeating Manchester United by two goals to nil.
Hopefully we can use it as a springboard to win our next PL game.
Kudos has been an excellent signing.
Bowen has also been growing in confidence and scoring more.

What I can’t understand is why I hear Moyes won’t be offered an extension at the end of the season? He’s been an excellent manager for us.

Agreed.

What?

More importantly, why?

Perhaps it is just because he is considered somehow unfashionable....and is thought (in some quarters) to be old-fashioned in his approach.

Actually, I think he has been an extremely good manager for the Hammers; they have done very well under him.

I agree. He’s our best manager for years.

There is really no reason to watch Man Utd right now, aside from self-hatred or outright masochism. As long as ownership and long overdue changes to the footballing structure remain stuck in limbo, there's just no point.
If you read Nick Hornby (Fever Pitch), the book is not just about (the trials and tribulations of) supporting Arsenal, nor about the fact that football filled a (necessary) psychological and emotional vacuum in the wake of his parents' (messy) divorce, but also about the incomprehensible bittersweet and inexplicable joys of the sheer masochism that often comes with supporting a football club.

Great book, yep.

I barely remember the American movie version, but they changed it from Arsenal / football to the Red Sox / baseball. I kind of love that the double entendre in the title "Fever Pitch" works equally well for both football and baseball.

A relieved Gunner, here; we held on at Anfield - honours even, and points shared, for a one-all draw - and, with that, proceed to head into Christmas at the top (but, barely) of the league table.

Still, Liverpool are a very good team, and are very difficult to defeat at home.

It’s certainly tight up there.
Good wins for Luton and Burnley.
If you’d have said we would be 10 points off top or 1 place behind City at the halfway point back in August I’d have taken it!

Well, I won't argue with a point claimed (after a hard fought game) at Anfield; we haven't won there for a decade (in fact, we haven't won at Anfield since the days when Mikel Arteta himself was a part of the team). Indeed, in recent years, defeats for us were more the norm when playing at that venue.

However, while we didn't deserve to win, neither did Liverpool; both teams had chances they failed to convert, and both defended strongly.

A point apiece was probably a fair result.

I didn’t expect to beat Arsenal, but actually Liverpool created enough to take all three points. Just couldn’t finish them. Both teams looked good, and things stay tight at the top.

Today has also been a day that bore witness to a genuine historic moment for women and for football in the Premier League, when Rebecca Welch refereed the Premier League match between Fulham and Burnley, the latter claiming an away victory when they won the game by by two goals to nil.

This was the first time that a woman has served as referee during a Premier League game.

Vincent Kompany (Burnley's manager, and a former legendary captain of Manchester City) - in a characteristically classy contribution - offered the following remarks after the match:

“I wanted to congratulate her because aside from the performance it’s a big moment,” said Kompany. “And I said when you’re in the game it’s not about the ref, it’s about the players, not about the coach. But after the game it’s fair to say that is a milestone moment and may there be many more.

“The best thing will always be when people are judged on merit but you have to have a first. Well done, I am happy to be a part of this moment.”

Arteta should seriously consider moving Zinchenko to midfield once Timber returns. He has cost them 2pts in 2 successive Anfield games. And could've lost them the whole match today if TAA finished properly.
Last season he went under the radar because Saliba and Partey weren't on the pitch. Today not so much. Ironically he is Arsenal's TAA...poor defensively but good in midfield. Although TAA is better offensively.

Martinelli (and Saka albeit less so) still has work to do re-decision making. Need to combine better. And Arsenal need a lethal forward.
Odegaard lucky to not concede a pen.

Saliba, Konate, and Rice probably the 3 best players on the pitch. Special nod to Endo.

A draw just about a fair result, but 'Pool will feel they dropped 2 points. Both teams are good stakeholders for the title currently, but injuries and AFCON may prove decisive.

Not sure CIty will be able to go on another 15 game run like last season. For one, their rivals have improved. Also, the league is notably tougher this year. Hence a chunk of the 'lesser' teams will take points of the big 6 (big 3 practically).
I mean...today Luton beat Newcastle (albeit big injury list), and Sheff Utd drew against Villa (could've won) who were supposedly on course for the title.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe 25% purchase of Man Utd confirmed, plus control over footballing operations.

Just about the best Christmas present I can think of.

Yes, I have just read reports confirming this purchase.

Very interesting.

Apparently, £300 million is already ear-marked, ring-fenced, for "infrastructure" - repairs at Old Trafford are overdue and will be very welcome, no doubt.

Moreover, I would expect to see significant personnel changes among the senior staff who actually run Manchester United, which may, or may not, include the manager, ETH.
