As another data point, my iPad 10.5 lasted about seven hours on a full battery with iOS 16.
Interesting! Do you have a screenshot? It’s the first time I’ve heard of it being that good. That’s obviously not like iOS 10, but it is usable.

My 9.7-inch iPad Pro is at 10-11 hours of light use on iOS 12, so 7 on iPadOS 16 doesn’t sound poor, but like I said, I’ve read that people get worse numbers.

I don't; I gave it to my niece instead of her buying a new iPad just for Procreate.

Agreed. A10 iPads have been great, but I wouldn’t be able to recommend one with a straight face. Too degraded on current software, especially when, like you said, the 9th-gen iPad is available.

I don’t think I’d recommend the 10.5-inch iPad Pro over the 9th-gen iPad in spite of its advantages. I’m a happy user of my favourite iPad ever, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, but it’s on iOS 12. The only full-sized home button iPad on current software I’d recommend is the 9th-gen iPad.

With the technological new features of Geekbench 6 which and Metal 3 support for A13 and also the ANE in A13 the 9th Gen is a better buy. Also that 9th gen iPad will have longer OS Support and far longer app/security support too

If Apple can’t put USB C onto the traditional home button iPad next year then the 9th Gen will be the only recommended home button ( and I’d actually recommend the 64GB in its price too) heck only 64GB iPad to recommend
