He doesn't need to know.

At Apple, anyone who doesn't need to know - doesn't know. It's how they keep secrets.

Only people working on the projects - and the top dogs (the ones you see in the launch videos they do - all the execs) will know about products.

I'm being a bit pedantic here but come on - its definitely more than just a few execs and tops dogs who know whats going on. I was in an apple store weeks ago talking about new iMacs and obviously every member of staff had no clue. One woman said that as soon as the WWDC was over last month all the 17 inch MBPs had to be immediately packed away and by the next morning deliveries of the new models were arriving.

To coordinate all these deliveries then surely the Head of European sales will know whats going on. Not weeks in advance no, but say today was the day new iMacs came up online (although it now appears it isnt) then surely the guy in charge of all the deliveries would know by now.....

Also, the are people who does the boxes, the art people who design the site for the launch, all the 100K workers in Foxcon, and so ..
I think that in every apple product at least 5K people know.

Was he pulling your leg? Did you ever find out for certain?

"C" was the correct answer....He does that...If there had been anything in the pipeline that I might have been interested in, he gets my sales guy to phone and drop hints...That's even worse!:) But I do get a discount when I do buy...As I said, I'm not looking at buying for myself, just the new iMac for my buddy...Now going to wait until October...No refresh then and I guess he has the choice to either buy one, or wait until the new year...(That's what I would do) By then I WILL be looking to by an iMac or more probably a Pro if the specs are right.

A Pro? Surely you have seen that these have been updated already and the usual refresh cycle for these machines is close to 600 days?

I take it you missed the news that Apple admitted this wasn't a refresh a couple of days after it was "refreshed", removed the "new" badge and issued a statement that a new Mac Pro will be released in 2013, or something "new and exciting" anyway. They also clarified that the 2013 date was specifically for the Mac Pro, and not for the mini or iMac.

No, I didn't miss that. You, however, missed my roll-eyes (you must be on the phone again!). I was simply teasing @macman45

I'm thankful the MacMinis didn't refresh yet. The company I work for is an authorized reseller. We get a pretty good discount and I'll want to utilize that for when the new on e comes out.

Had it came out that night, I'd bought it right then. :|
