Extra Info

I personally find that Vista better uses your system resources when compared to XP. Face it, XP is coming up to 7 years. If you had an older computer, I'd push in the direction of XP, but there is no reason why Vista won't run well on your computer. I've been running Vista for about 1 and a half years (since RC1) and was an early adopter. SP1 really makes Vista better, and it should be rolling out to the general public soon, but you can find sites to snatch it off of.

Although The Flashing makes a lovely point, I think it is worth mentioning that adding system updates to XP actually makes the computer run slower (excluding the Service Packs). Also from a computer specialist friend of mine, he had mentioned that Vista, although the new opperating system from Microsoft, will be as you say "scraped." In fact, Microsoft will take much of its resources and make an entirely new opperating system. Although Vista will be updated and whatnot, Microsoft will pay more attention to the new opperating system, as I believe Vista did not come out as well as it was hoped to be.;)

Soon also, Service Pack 3 for XP will be coming out soon, and I was told with blessings to buy it if I need to play the time-comsuming games the platform of the PC has to offer on my first Mac computer (sadly I ordered the Macbook Pro the day it came out on the 26 of Febuary I believe, and it will not be shipped until the 18th of March).:(

No offense, but I don't know what you're talking about?

If you're trying to say that when MS's new OS is released (Windows 7), then Vista will take a back seat to it, then you're absolutely correct. It's how it's always been, even within Apple.

And Windows 7 will not be a radical departure from Vista as Vista is a radical departure from XP. Windows 7 is planned to be a "minor" release (just as XP is a "minor" release). I think the largest improvement will be MinWin (or maybe it's WinMin, I always get them confused:(), which is basically a clean up of the NT Kernel to my understanding of it, but i wouldn't be suprised if MS ditched it until Windows 8 (like WinFS). But in terms of overhauling the driver model and other stuff, it's not planned.

And for XP for games. If you already have XP, I would use it. But if you're in the market of a new OS, I don't see much point in buying a 7 year old, unless you have something that won't work in Vista. But, it's your choice.

Access NTFS from a Mac

Hey Guys,

I say this post and just wanted to give you a heads up. There are two ways to access NTFS on a read/write basis in OSX one is of couse the NTFS-3G Stable Read/Write Drive. and the other is NTFS for Mac from Paragon Software. It is not a free program but costs if I remeber about 39.00 dollars US NTFS-3G is free. I like both, but I preffer NTFS for mac because it's a little easier to install and I can get support directly from Paragon. THIS IS HOW YOU HELP!!!

MB SantaRosa 4GB/500GB running OSX 10.5.6 and Vista Ultimate SP2 RC. No major problems. MB is the best laptop platform for running Vista (One Driver disc and updates directly from the manufacture/So Nice):D:apple:
