Mmm. Loving that 911. Eventually...

Looks like I'm going to be hanging out my S3 for now. Less than two months into ownership, someone almost hit me head on, forcing me to swerve, scraping up against a garage column (over $5000 damage). Now a week ago, ran over a shredded tire on 495 ($3000 damage). This car is cursed. Originally was considering selling it for an S6. Now I'm just going to hang onto it as a daily driver and pickup an extra fun car for weekends.

Had my Tire Pressure warning go off this weekend. I hate dealing with that crap. Then it doesn't reset itself either, I have to do it manually. The TSX had indicators on each tire. Filled the tire again and went on with my day.

Still concerned there's a slow leak.

After also bitching about it on Twitter last week, Mercedes UK got in touch and offered to speak to the dealer where my car is currently waiting.

Delivery tomorrow. Holy smokes, did Twitter get me results?

OK, whew ready to clear out for the storm. Decided to leave the GT in the garage, the storm surge should be quite a bit lower, this is a new garage door that seals up much tighter, we've got the main door and side door sandbagged - and, I've the car up on ramps in the rear and jackstands in the front, so it's a good 7-8" higher than it was for the last storm in Oct '16.

FU Irma!

Woo!

The extra effort, i.e., putting my car on ramps and jack stands, kept it almost completely dry. The garage had some flooding but only the front tire had water to the top of the lower sidewall, barely even made contact with the wheel (the rear was another 5-6" higher).

Even without the stands it would've not been bad, still would've missed the interior I think, but this was _awesome_. The folks across the street lost BOTH their cars.

Great news. Well, for you guys at least.

@ the new GT3: So just how many 911R owners are on suicide watch?

That's good to hear. Not for your neighbors obviously!

I await you christening the car with Tim Hortons and champagne, or whatever it is you Canadians do.

I didn't expect them to detail like a dedicated detailing shop (although, it should be at least better than what they did) but at least clean/wipe so there are no water marks and it actually looks like a new car. It's not terrible and nothing 3 buckets of car shampoo and water can't fix.

Congrats! As someone who recently went through the whole ordering-> built-> delivery process, it's a damn exciting experience. I still look at my initial pics of the Camaro at the dealer from time to time.

But yes where is that, this is worthless without pics smiley? We need pictures!

Might want to clay it and give it a good wax sealing for winter. It would be pointless to do a full detail this close to the winters you guys get. I've had some bad luck recently. In the last month, I've washed our two main cars three times, both on the same day, only for some natural disaster like ash flakes or rain muck up the cars the next day. I'm honestly considering using one of those touchless wash systems this winter. We're expected to have a dry and mild winter compared to last year.

Or buy a cover or garage?

Already have a garage. They were 'freak' events. We don't get rain in the summer, especially when the average daily is around 98* F and dry as a desert. The ash... I didn't even know there was a fire until days later. It traveled a great distance. Technically, you can blow ash off, but because of its nature, you're better off washing it after blowing it off with a neutralizing car soap.

Alas, our garage only has space for 2 vehicles and about 8 and 10 feet on either side for cabinets and whatnot. The second home we bought also has this problem, sans cabinets but we put those in later. 3-4+ garages are quite rare, even for larger homes/estates. A large home around 10K sq. ft or 930 sq. meters for you (I think I did this right), will only have a long driveway, possibly a canopy and then a 3 garage space, with a possible narrow entry for a motorcycle. Most American home design, both historically and new, have focused on maximum living room, bedroom and kitchen space. Bathroom, too, but a very large bathroom isn't economical if you only use it 1-2 hours a day in total. Hope that makes sense.

Also, because the city won't allow me to expand and I'm not in a position to build a second garage like some of my neighbors because I don't have a rear access road.

In the UK your lucky to get a car in your little garage! Mine is full of crap.
