Allegedly quite expensive to maintain/repair though because the entire engine needs to be removed for some fairly routine things.
I don't know much about cars (but I do love European cars, namely VW's and Audi's), bu isn't that someting usual for all VW's?

I don't have such high standards as some of you do as the car I really want is an Audi A4 and I'm sure you guys probably want something bigger than that.

Aside from the A4, I'd also love to have a Toureg the Tsuchiya posted previously.

However I'm currently driving a black 2012 VW Jetta which I got used with 16K on it and already put like 2,800 miles on it or close to that.

You want the 2015 model, which went through a heavy refresh. In fact, in XSE trim, it actually looks quite good. (I can't believe I just said that about a Camry)

The 2015 Camry interior is much improved. They dumped the cheap plastic from the pre-15 models. I prefer the interior layout of the Camry more and Toyota's infotainment system is superior to Honda's for ease of use. (touchscreen display audio with Entune)

That being said, I would check out the new Accord too. It will be just as bulletproof and reliable. Not to mention, once you hit 200k miles on it, someone on craigslist will pay stupid money to buy it off you because it's a Honda. (Same with the Toyota)

You honestly can't go wrong with either. I'm a Toyota guy myself and don't like Honda's current lineup, but the Accord is one of two standout products in their lineup. (Fit is the other.) Having driven both, the Camry is a little more spacious and comfortable, whereas the Accord is a little more noisy, but drives a little better. (Driving dynamics are superior)

Thank you. I'll check out both of them. I think I may want the Camry SXE.

From the 2015 Motor Trend Car of the Year article. Warmed my heart, I had to share. :)

"Car of the Year is not Car We Like the Most, regardless of context. Otherwise we'd still be talking about the Acura NSX."

http://www.motortrend.com/oftheyear...end_car_of_the_year_contenders_and_finalists/

Not bad for a car that's been out of production for 10 years.

Honda needs to get with it. The NSX didn't just change Japanese cars, it became the benchmark of companies like Ferrari.

There is a huge hole in their lineup where the Halo car should be

Is it hard to get a car loan with a 642 fico score? or should I just think about buying cash for a car?

thank you

If you can prove a reasonable source of income, someone will probably give you a loan with a bad interest rate. That being said, if you have the cash, pay a good sum of it cash and consider financing a small piece to pick up your credit score.

What are you calling a bad interest rate? 8%? or 15%? What are you calling a small piece is that about $5,000?

thank you,

I think if your credit is that bad, I'm not the expert for you.

I would start here.

http://www.edmunds.com/car-buying/buying-a-new-car-when-you-have-bad-credit.html

I've heard it's sometimes advantageous to take out a small loan even if you can pay for the car outright. I do not know if that is true, though.

I don't think my credit is bad. Thank you for your help. I'll look into taking out that small loan. There's a guy at my job that use to work at a union credit.

Last rate I got was 0.9% for a 3 year loan (I like to keep it short). My credit is pretty good.

I wouldn't finance for 8% if I didn't have to.

I was excited about the NSX...but the hype sort of died down for me after the release of the BMW i8. Seeing these teaser videos makes it worse because it's going to be actually be released/delivered sometime next year so even more waiting. I'm sure it's going to be a great car and I know they don't really compete but the BMW i8 kind of stole some of it's thunder.

Doubtful. They are two completely different cars. i8 is a daily driver for someone who drives their NSX on the weekends. The NSX benchmark was the 458 Italia and the Audi R8. If the NSX isn't significantly better than the i8, it will be a huge disappointment.

The NSX has ungodly large shoes to fill.

I don't disagree, they're not competitors but from a technological/engineering standpoint, the use of exotic materials and a relatively affordable price (likely won't cost as much as the 458 and should undercut the R8 a bit), to me, the i8 stole some of that wow factor from the NSX. But if you're a numbers guy, I'm sure you're still waiting in excitement to see what a 3100 lbs car with 500HP can do at half the price of a 458.

(The NSX will perform better than the i8, no doubt about that)

You're right. Add to that, the roundel just sells cars where the calipers simply don't to the same extent.

If possible, work on improving your FICO score (a lot) before seeking a loan. Otherwise, you could end up putting yourself in worse financial shape signing a loan with a high interest rate.

Thanks for the tip. Will do. I'm taking to raise my fico score about a 100 points before getting a loan.

Good luck with the future purchase! You're car shopping at the perfect time. Car makers are trying to end the year strong.

This whole Tesla talk in the other thread made me dream about the Model S again. I really want one in the future.

I think my perfect dream garage would be a Tesla P85D and a 911 Turbo S
thank you. But I'm going to wait until about May 2015 or Dec 2015.

Just ordered something like this:

mini_cooper_f56_p90142579-b.jpg

Minus the extra chrome trim and the extra indicators in the wheel-arches (W T F ???).

Oh and also minus the palm trees

Should be here in early march, at which time it will offcourse be fully paid :p

Congrats!

I'm really torn between a GTI and Cooper S for my next DD. Both fantastic cars.

Well that (and my car) is just a plain cooper as I don't see the point in the S in terms of real-life (read while driving lawfully on public roads) when it comes to the cost of the car and keeping it up in terms of insurance and taxes.

Earlier this year I tested a ClioRS (200HP) and the 136HP Cooper didn't feel much slower so I went with that as it will cost me about 500Euro less than RS (or about 300 compared to the CooperS) per year.

What some people tend to forget with these new engines is that peak HP aren't just a peak anymore but a whole band from 4500 to 6000RPM with max. torque allready available at 1250RPM.

So you may really want to test those slightly lower models before spending an extra 4k on 60HP you may never use.

I'll assume that by "GTI" you mean a Golf ? I was shortly interested in the 150HP Polo BlueGT more comparable to the Mini Cooper, but I would have waited atleast till late 2016 for that one (as a new Polo is due late 2015 and I'll never buy a model younger than 1 year).

Also when looking for that Cooper be prepared that the basic 20k Copper or 24k S can easily end up being a 40k++ car (based an list prices in Germany)

Edit:

But the whole point is moot as with your nick anything but an S1 would be high treason !!
