For me, the choice is now clear: I love my MBA13 to death.

I came from at MBP-17 pre-unibody, 2.5/4/500, and I LOVED that machine. This machine kicks its butt all the way around except for ports.

SO...I use the drobo via USB. One USB port would have been terminal, but, I develop all day on this thing with an attached large monitor and it ROCKS.

(then I get to unplug it and walk around the house with it and use it an "iPad for grownups with more than two fingers"). Its awesome. My GF's MBP-13 is a tank compared to this.

hello everyone, im a long time lurker on these forums but have been obsessing about this decision for the last few days.

ive wanted an the entry mbp 13 for months, now im in a position to finally get it, im looking at the mba 13 - 4gb - 128 gb more and more.

im not a heavy user, just internet, email, word processing, some light gaming and may record some song ideas now and then in garageband.

the way i see it is that the mba is massively tailored to exactly what i want (and looks the dogs whiskers) but at the expense of some peripheral features that i may or may not ever use.

the trouble im having is that the mbp is cheaper and broadly better, mba is a bit more and focuses on exactly what i need. geekbench doesnt help the matter with mbp at 3358 and mba at 3003.

i know i wont miss the difference but paying £200 more for something that is essentially less after saving for so long im finding hard to justify.

i guess the grass is always greener on the otherside, i just happen to be sitting on the fence!

You CAN'T think of the MBA as "less", you get MORE in the fact that it is lighter, has a really beautiful screen, better contrast and less GLARE IMHO than the MBP 13" (which I just bought for my nephew, so I got a chance to spend some time with it)

The MBA is just really really nice (I have the 13" 128GB and will buy another for the GF for xmas with 4GB RAM)

Yes, it is more, but we pay more for things like lighter, thinner, etc.

Less is only more if you want less:)

well put. i am leaning towards the mba because it seems so well suited to my needs. by the time i pull the trigger the mbp update will probably be released and cause more head scratching! buuut this update will probably push up the price of mbp's right?

The new MBA 13" (1.86/4/128 SSD) is not "essentially less" than the current MBP 13". It is the best there is for the usage you describe.

My rant on this subject is #12 here:

I wouldn't expect MBP's to go UP in price. I think apple will find a way to

A:) keep pricing static
B:) get new features in, while taking others out
c:) increase margin
