Well it's nowhere near as beautiful as an iMac but it does have a host of features which the present iMac's lack .....

Even though it's too expensive and has a crappy screen ..... I reckon a year or two in the future, with the necessary revisions/upgrades ..... it may knock a few dollars off Apple's share price .....

Whatever ..... competition is always good and it will push the iMac to greater glory !!

That dell is amazing UGLY
I cant understand yet why the PC market can have yet just one nice PC...forgot specs, just one model you can see and say wowwwww is really nice.

Only SONY have 2 models really nice on the product line tehy call SONY TYPE L:
This model have battery, and is a mix of desktop notebook, really nice:

And here the big brother 19 inch:

But that dell, is amazing UGLY lol.

The Dell XPS "One" is really ugly IMO, and the Gateway one and those Sony "all in one's" are pretty ugly as well.

When I saw the 1st pic of the XPS "one", I actually thought It was a joke..... apparently not.

Honestly, it doesn't look all that bad.

I'm not a big fan of those speakers on the side nor the media card slot, but it has a desktop processor. Let me say again:

This "All in One" is capable of running a Quad core 3.0Ghz Processor. Why can't Apple do that?

By the way, I really think that sony thing is a bit uggers. The PC world has heaps of nice PCs, you're just not looking hard enough ^_^

Well, the Dell certainly isn't the worst all-in-one I have seen in the past. Still, however, the large base and big speakers on the side don't help the look in my opinion.

I dunno. I just don't think I will ever be able to get myself to buy a Dell. Yes, Dells seem to be everywhere, however, they just seem like cheaply built computers to me. I don't see why this one would be any different. I love my iMac and am perfectly happy with it. Just think...if Dell built the exact same design as the iMac, it may look the same, but the entire thing would be plastic instead of aluminum! (just an example of the quality difference in Mac and Dell).

It's kinda sad that y'all are saying it's ugly ..... sure, it's not as sexy as an iMac but it's still pretty hot !! Would it be so bad to admit a computer made by a company other than Apple might also be "relatively" good ?? !!

More importantly, it does kick iMac's ass in the functions/features department ..... unfortunately/thankfully it comes with a rather weak screen and even worse software and is over-priced .....

I wonder how many they will sell ..... ??

I actually hope it does very well ..... as that might make Apple take notice and bring out a significant upgrade asap !!

As far as desktop processors go I'd be very curious to hear how "quietly" these new Dells run with the quad cores. My iMac is next to silent.

The design of this machine is not for me. There are really attractive non-Apple computers out there but this One (pardon the pun) doesn't qualify IMO.

I think its way overpriced considering the comparable sized iMac and I wonder why they don't have a 24" model available. It uses the same ATI 2400HD Mobility Radeon featured only in the lowest end iMac currently available.

Also, to agree with what others have already mentioned it doesn't run OS X which is probably it's biggest weakness.

OMG why cant other companies make a decently-looking PC? Or at least make one than isnt ugly?

This "One" is VERY thick, looks like an old (non-Apple) cheap LCD, just with glossy materials.

I'm sure its loud as well, or at least not as quite as the iMac.

BTW, why is it sooo expensive? And no 24" model?

Haha, it actually has a worse graphics card than the low-end iMac, AND to get a dedicated chip you need to buy at least the 1999$ model

Wow, fan boyism is rampant in this thread. The XP One has things we'd all be drooling over if Apple included them with an iMac

2GB RAM standard
7 USB ports
Integrated TV tuner
Blu Ray
2 years in home service

I can't even see that thing. I've tried like 10 times to load that page, and nada.

I loaded Parallels and accessed it through that, and I got a nanosecond "side-boob" PC equivalent flicker. Don't even know what I saw.

I wouldn't get all giggly over in-home service or the 2GBs - the TV tuner and anything MORE than 3 USB ports though -- that almost makes sense.

For Dell - that is downright scary. Apple would never do something so crazy...

Did you tack in blu-ray after? Or am I in need of a HOP refresher?

Yeah, blu-ray I'd be giggly over - like a 12 year old girl. Especially if it could decode it.

Check out the specs on all the Dell "Ones" here, TDI:

Please shoot me if I start drooling over USB ports.

Agree that more RAM and the TV Tuner would be nice. Not as convinced on the Blu-Ray yet - but an HDMI port so you could plug one in eventually would be useful.

And count me in on the 'ugly' side; I'll take the looks and trade a little power since it's only when encoding video that I get anywhere near maxing my iMac out.

Well in the pics it is fugly to say the least, and you can only buy it with Vista. Think its a dog to look at and will be a dog to run for the foreseeable future.

Dell XPS One

I suppose the 'look' of a PC is something that concerns some people more than it does others. Since I spend most of my time looking at it, the quality of the screen is what I focus on. The Dell, as a piece of technology, is quite reasonable to look at - beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all.

More important to me is the likely lifetime of all-in-one PCs, with all those components packed close together, and the lack of flexibility. A 'box' allows upgrades: why does Apple produce nothing between the iMac and Mac Pro? I almost bought an aluminium iMac but the 'freezing' fiasco and Apple's poor service offering put me off.

I was lucky enough to stop into a Sony Store featuring a computer almost exactly the same as the pictured one,

while it was all in one, it was noisy, and laggy.

Also:

Vista. No. Bad. Wicked. Evil.
