Honestly, the frosty dock on the iPhone has got to be one of the biggest crime in the history of Apple. Why couldn't they have rounded it off to match the iPad? I'm not saying it has to have the same function. I think 4 icons is realistic on a phone, but I want the frost reduced. They removed the labels on iOS 11 but the frost still takes up too much space. It has ruined every single wallpapers of mine. All my wallpapers looked gorgeous before iOS 7.

Design is subjective, I think it looks really good. They should've rounded it though, I dislike inconsistencies.

I think they'll change it to look like the iPad's iOS 11 dock, for the iPhone '8'.

I wish, but I doubt it. It'll probably be the same but within another row of icons or something.

I really don't like it either. I wish it could be turned off.
Ikr. It's just too damn frosty. Google pixel handles it way better and has more transparency. It's quite beautiful like that.

It looks so ugly I agree. We used to have a beautiful 3D dock that looked great with every wallpaper, and now we have this flat garbage. The rounded dock on the iPad is not solving the main problem, which is the blur.
Exactly. It looked very classy. The blur/frost is too heavy and cuts off a huge chunk of the wallpaper. I also think they scaled up the icons a tiny big. They need to get on board with theme stores. I still can't believe it haven't happened. They could make a lot of money on themes.

The have to or it will look weird with the iP8 rumored rounded corners screen. Otherwise they have the bottom corners rounded and the top with sharp ones.

I hope you're right, but I don't see how they can but a new iOS 11 design on iPhone 8 and have other iPhones have a different iOS 11 design. I think we've seen everything there is to iOS 11, sadly.

I didn't notice it until you pointed out, and now that I have it doesn't bother me one way or another.

So you want it to match the look of the iPad's without the same functionality? Not good.

The rounded corners signify something that doesn't apply on the iPhone as it works now. Consistency is the bane of new designers that things should all look the same despite good reasons why sometimes things should look different.

Looks good

I see why Apple decided not to go with themes in iOS. They want to build the best experience they can for everyone, and it's crucial to represent their devices with their signature look and feel. They want it to be instantly recognisable around people. Based on some themes on Android I've seen, I doubt that some people are smart enough to use a decent theme.

It wasn't a problem when Steve Jobs was around, but I don't want to brag about it. What they should do now is to listen to their community, if they aren't able to build a superior look and feel.

How do you get the round dock? View attachment 714711

(That image above is just a mock-up...)

First time I've seen some of these iOS 11 icons. They're definitely... different. It's amusing how they simplified the App Store icon to the point of abstraction, but didn't touch the Settings icon. Seems inconsistent.

I wonder why Apple hasn't yet implemented a "live" weather icon.
