(That image above is just a mock-up...)

First time I've seen some of these iOS 11 icons. They're definitely... different. It's amusing how they simplified the App Store icon to the point of abstraction, but didn't touch the Settings icon. Seems inconsistent.

I wonder why Apple hasn't yet implemented a "live" weather icon.
Haha,so true. It's almost as if the icons are a compilation of a bunch of different themes that don't belong together.

Agreed. I've hated it since day one of iOS7.

Instead of a nice looking dock that works with all backgrounds, we get a slab of some ugly colour that makes your whole home screen always look awful. Want a cool black background? Here's a slab of ugly grey to ruin it.

I'm so glad they're finally moving a way from a lot of the awful decisions brought in from iOS7 and I love what they've done with the dock on the iPad...but simply can't understand why, in light of these changes, they've kept the iPhone dock the same. It MUST be due to whatever changes are coming for the new iPhone.

This! I cannot tell you how angry that grey bar has gotten me over the years! What I would give for an all black background.

Well, looks like you're getting your wish. At least on the oled iPhone.
Haha, yeah I heard the rumors today. Honestly, that makes me so happy ... but haven't we had dark mode confirmed for 3 years now? Not getting my hopes up.

Btw - I wonder how you'll be able to get back to the home screen with the gestures

The way it's been depicted is brilliant. Swipe up halfway and it opens control center/app switcher...swipe further and it returns to the home screen. No need for a button of any sort. I love it and hope it's accurate.

one of the reasons i used to jb my iphones; customization. shame that apple doesn't give us anything. why can't we have options for the dock? or a dark mode? i appreciate consistency, but a little personalization would be great...

I thought halfway up was to get the dock pop up and all the way up control center/apps. I'm pretty excited. Regardless :)

Honestly, the recent apps is the dumbest thing ever. Why would I want the same app to appear twice in the dock. A waste of space for more apps

I'm glad someone brought this up. I think the dock is unnecessary - the dots between the dock and the app icons already separates it. I'd rather see more of my wallpaper, then the blurry dock (but the icons / shortcuts are ok, so I'm not against having a dock, just don't see the point in the extreme blur).

At least - as someone already mentioned, make it more like the new iPad dock so they look the same(ish).

How would a "halfway" swipe bring up CC & app switcher at same time?

I think I may just submit a suggestion via Feedback Assistant to covert the iPhone dock to mirror the iPad's, just for the hell of it. Don't ask you don't get, right?

I hope they do it on the Mac too honestly. The asymmetrical dock looks bad now that I've seen the rounded iPad dock.

Imo I think it looks slightly better than the old one (depends on your background, thus the dock color), but that's not saying much. I give the old one a D and the new one a D+. iOS6 was a B+ at the very least. Jailbreak customizable options get you to A-. I'm picky.

Replacing the dock is a must for me. I have the iOS 6 dock and it looks much better on iOS 7 design, than the iOS 7 dock does lol. (replace 7 with 10 if you please)

I see why Apple decided not to go with themes in iOS. They want to build the best experience they can for everyone, and it's crucial to represent their devices with their signature look and feel. They want it to be instantly recognisable around people. Based on some themes on Android I've seen, I doubt that some people are smart enough to use a decent theme.

It wasn't a problem when Steve Jobs was around, but I don't want to brag about it. What they should do now is to listen to their community, if they aren't able to build a superior look and feel.

Another thing to consider why Apple chose NOt to implement themes is for iOS accessibility reliant user base: physically, audibly, and visually challenged/impaired users. Should a theme be installed that changes the location of UI elements there goes their productivity, enjoyment, use expectancy, and even their independence in their lives. Sure one would argue why would such a user choose to install a theme, think of rogue apps or even a developer that wanted their own UI choices implemented against iOS guidelines. It can happen.

The dock is getting very old in iPhone with the frost. I'd rather the dock gone or represented by a simple thin decider line, opaque even.

Looks like the iPhone X got the new design dock we want on our iPhones. I guess another subtle push towards making the device seem new and different enough for us to want to purchase it.

I'll keep my $1800 and ugly dock on my SE for now!

I'm honestly so pissed because the guy who leaked it lied and said it would have the same functionality as the iPad's dock. You cannot add more apps to it or pull it up within an app.

I doubted it would get the iPad functionality. Maybe if they had gone with a "Pro" device, but they decided to just charge a Pro price without the features.

It's swipe up and release for home, swipe up and hold briefly for app switcher. For Control Centre, you swipe down from the top-right "ear" of the display (where wifi/battery icons are)
