The Galaxy S4 is launching on over 330 carriers in over 150 countries. The S4 is feature packed and has a proven track record of high performance. It improves on everything that made the Galaxy S3 sell millions. If you have an S3, you would probably still be satisfied with your current device but there are still billions of people who have never owned an S3 that would be enticed by the S4. When the S3 was released, there were also negative reactions on tech sites much like there is now but it turned out to be a huge success. Mark my word, the Galaxy S4 will sell over 100 million units within 12 months of its release.

Thank you for the insight. I can now relax and be in peace since you deemed the S4 a success. I was beginning to grow wary of the phones fate.

Of course...that's all it could ever be on here, right?

Just have to see what apple comes back with now.. Faster processor and better camera won't cut it.

I love how a faster processor and better camera but same case and OS is great job by Sammie but for Apple that "won't cut it"

...except it will. Just wait and see.

Samsung have added an even better screen and plenty of features to their phones each year. It's not the same..

We don't even have any widgets or anything like that in the iphone and the screen size has become a joke. Its impossible to use the Internet after looking at these android phones.

Honestly, around 30% more screen real estate is quite considerable :D

Also the size of the whole phone plays into this, my niece had this (horrible :p) pink flipcover on and I think she sees it as something akin to a teen address book or diary, that sort of thing.

25% of 4" is 1", not 30% :p

The screen is substantially bigger sure, I'm just saying that it would not make a big difference if you were showing something to a huddle of your friends. It is only a 1" difference after all. Let's not over-sell the difference :D

Can you imagine if TV manufacturers did that? 33" screen so now even more people can watch it over a 32"! They would just be laughed at. And yes, I know the difference in size is more substantial at smaller sizes, but it's still not that big a difference :p

subjectively in your opinion ;)

Your statement reads as a definitive article when its just subjective opinion.

Anything somebody posts is their opinion, actually saying 'in my opinion' is redundant. :p

Really? Impossible?

I actually like the iPhone 5 screen. I'm also ordering an S4 day one.

While the iPhone 5 screen is on the smaller side it makes up for in quality for the most part. The actual display it self is outstanding, a bigger screen would be nice but it's not DoA.

Many people actually like the smaller screen and smaller form factor

Samsung does that, I don't see you laughing at them.

But it's ok. Samsung could never do wrong.

Even better on their older model

"Plus One" Design

Samsung's Plasma Plus One Design sets this TV apart, with a bigger picture and a narrower outer frame, for an extra inch of screen compared to similarly sized competitors' models.

For the most part yes.

But lately round these parts we have had those that proffer their opinion as definitive fact and cause a lot of trouble.

And as you know, We don't take kindly to folks who don't take kindly round here ;)

I can't laugh at something I'm not aware of. ;)

But yes, lots of things make me laugh in despair... things that cost £X.99, 51" screens, 3.99" screens. Just round the numbers up/down you insufferable fools :(

Haha :D Seems nearly every thread gets derailed. Would love to see a thread stick to the topic!

Sorry, when you said TV manufactures marketing an extra inch a bunch of alarms went off because samsung did just that. :D

Was kind of funny to me how big of a deal that extra inch was to them

I'm not too worried about battery life for the HTC one and of the forthcoming handsets. I was able to last a full day on my one X and that was with a 1800mAh battery. I'm sure a 2300mAh battery will be grand for me.

Personally, I wouldn't want to put AOSP on the handset. For me Sense 5 is as much part of the experience HTC are offering with their device, and I really like what they have done with Sense 5.

And stock AOSP Android doesn't always mean better battery life. Look at those with battery issues on the Nexus 4....

I think Sense 5 will be devisive though, but I'm willing to buy into its philosophy for a while.. For me personally it is cleaner than Touchwiz and Samsung's S-Apps don't appeal to me in any way that I would ever utilise them. Group Play seems like the most silly of recent additions. Just give the phone better speakers already . How often are you ever anywhere where there are an abundance of folks dancing around their smartphones?

Either way both handsets are fantastic. In the end the consumer wins. What people prefer is going to be subjective, I wish Samsung had done one thing however, and that is standardise the SGS4 so that you got the same phone regardless of what region you are in. Invariably at the moment they have created a flagship handset where one is slightly more 'flagship' than the other....

We still have to see Battery benchmarks for the SGS4, they will be interesting especially considering the two SKU's.

It has 9% more battery than the HTC One, but the 1.9ghz Snapdragon model is also clocked 10% faster CPU wise and has faster GPU. Those things could nullify battery capacity differences between the handsets.

Hmm, I also like the lighter sense theme overall and slcd is gorgeous to look at, but sense lagged tons on the one x when I tried it.

Verge stated they couldn't find any lag this time, so I have my fingers crossed.

I do not care about that 5-10 ms of "stutter" people make such a big deal out of. On nexus 4 I never even thought it lagged. May be some people have more conscious tracking of lag but meh.

But the way sense caused the launcher to redraw every time after exiting the browser was jarring to see. Hope this is fixed.

Well sure, it's a 20% difference (0,8 inches) on the diagonal length. But the screen area is 44% bigger in square inches on the S3. That makes for a quite different class of device when it comes to showing pictures to someone.

And if you're going to compare it to TVs, at least stick to the numbers in question :p It would actually be like comparing a 22" TV to a 28", not 32" to 33" and don't tell me those aren't percieved as quite different. Want another example? A 15" MBP to a 13" MBP, and the difference between those is actually smaller than that between the GS3 and iP5.

Blackberry is still very popular with teens here, mostly for BBM. I work down at the comprehensive school now and again and its always BB curves that the teens seem to have, with the odd few using older hand-me-down iPhones.

Not in Canada. I know several people who are in highschool and there was a huge shift from Blackberry -> iPhone/Galaxy in 2012 and having a Blackberry is no longer "cool".

Curves are also popular because they're so dirt cheap. I see BlackBerries reducing in popularity these days though, most of my peers (18-22) have Android phones, and yes most of those are Samsungs, some of them are the cheap Galaxy Ace 2 types and others are S2s or S3s. There's the odd iPhone and BlackBerry but mostly it's Samsung. They have a good strategy making phones for every part of the market from the £80 low end crap to the £500 high end flagships - the top three best selling smartphones in the UK right now are all Samsungs.

Anyone who thinks the S4 will lag is off their head

It's not that we just think it lags, it clearly does so in numerous hands-on videos posted so far, and some of the press have commented on it too.

It shouldn't lag given the power inside it, so hopefully it will be ironed out. But so far from what is available there is clear evidence that lag however slight is still there to visibly discern.
