I ordered three (classic red, navy and navy/green striped) of the "2 piece classic" Nato bands from Clockwork Synergy and got the delivery today. The bands are a little thinner and more flexible than the Apple nylon bands, and are constructed completely differently. These bands have the standard "lugs" for attaching to the Watch, as opposed to Apple's molded connectors. Additionally, these bands have two metal loops for the end of the strap that are sewn in place, where the Apple nylon bands have a single "floating" loop made of matching nylon material.

After having worn one of the bands for most of the afternoon, I can say it is quite comfortable - and a bit more casual looking than the Apple nylon bands. When I first put it on, I noticed a slight scratchy feel to the inside (side of the band that actually touches my skin)... so if you in any way have "sensitive" skin, it MIGHT be a bit of an issue. The bands are also slightly shorter than the Apple nylon bands.

For the price ($24.95 with a 20% discount via coupon code), I'd say they are keepers - but I will wear them in much more casual environments.

Clockwork Synergy is an awesome place to buy nato bands at a cheap price. Great store.

I have modified all three of my Clockwork Synergy bands... I took a pair of wire dykes and clipped the second strap loop (the one farthest away from the buckle) ... cleans up the look and it poses no issue, as the band "flap" didn't' reach that far up the band on my wrist.

Has anyone been able to find a good leather band with a black connector to use on the SS Space Grey watch?

Clockworksynergy lets you choose the adapter and buckle color to match your AW finish, and they have some nice leather bands. There are also a number of leather bands on Amazon and eBay that let you choose the adapter color.

I will say that Clockworksynergy's customer service is excellent and quick.

Clockwork Synergy has some nice bands, and their customer service is excellent... but some of their leather bands are too short ... they didn't fit my wrist. Goos stuff, just make sure it will work for you.

First time AW buyer here, looking at a few 3rd party silicone bands on eBay. My wrist measures 170mm - should I go for the S/M or the M/L band for the 42mm case?

https://store.apple.com/Catalog/regional/amr/pdf/static/pdf/content/Watch_Sizing_Guide.pdf

From the link: S/M fits 140-185mm wrists, M/L fits 160-210mm.

Though this is slightly off topic (it's a "third party", i.e., NOT Apple strap thread), here goes:

One could deduce from those numbers that the M part of S/M and M/L would fit 160-185mm. Since your wrist measures 170mm, one could easily determine that it doesn't matter... both band sizes will fit your wrists.

Good luck!

Thanks. I was wondering if the M/L would end up having too much material sticking out after being fastened.

Sorry about the off topic!

Yeah, that's always the trick... too much "flap" could be a problem... as the band design requires the "flap" from the long end to go inside the band - it's what holds it together...

not enough flap would be a worse problem, as its more liable to pop open and fall off that way.

I don't own an Apple Watch just yet, but play with the thought of buying a 42mm S2 SS for myself for Christmas this year. I think I'd get the saddle brown leather buckle band version, but I was looking around for third party ones just in case.

Then I fell in love with wooden ones. This finish looks awesome: https://luxwoodwatches.com/collecti...e-watch-wood-band-chanate?variant=23457348934 . Now I'm more thinking about getting the Watch for using it with this band than the other way around..

Anybody tried similar wooden ones? I'd worry if the wood can stand daily usage with sweat etc. (I don't plan to use it for Sports, but I live in a quite humid country)

Good move. I cut my extra strap loop off too. They are only useful if you have a lot of extra strap left. I just cut the extra off and heat seal the end.

Etsy is a leather band goldmine. There are ones you won't see anywhere else.
Thanks! I'm having problems finding a 38mm watch band for 8" wrists. I think I can just special order from them and be sure it will fit.

I am a bit sketched out by third party bands on amazon because of the reviews for some saying the quality sucks and they start falling apart quickly. I am looking for a durable leather loop and milanese loop that won't break the bank, can anyway suggest one who has a third party band and has used it to know if its durable or not
