Had a hard time deciding which links to ditch because you have to make room for the Apple Watch and size it for your wrist. Ended up ditching two hex links, two slotted links, and one pick link.

I know this is different but, I wonder if we could use the Leatherman Tread Bracelet for the watch with an adapter. I'm a HUGE tools freak, being a huge outdoors nerd I am (Coloradan in the house!) and having this which is also TSA Compliant, would be awesome and IMO I would rather have both of these which I'm getting one at Cabela's next week, better than spending on a Link Bracelet from Apple.

I don't know if that mix would work. As far as looks go. The AW is sleek and technical looking while the leatherman is more industrial. Each are good in their way, but not sure about the mix.

I'm awaiting the arrival of my AW2, so I'm of course looking at all the accessories I can find, and chanced upon this camera band. Pre-order has started at USD$149, and I'm pretty excited for it, since I do a lot of photography.

Just a little bit of caveat emptor:

"We’ll process your payment immediately. You are participating in a crowdfunding campaign for a new product in the final stages of development. If you order today, your CMRA will be scheduled for shipment in Spring 2017. You can request a refund at any time during the CMRA pre-order campaign, which ends no later than December 2, 2016. By ordering you agree to our Terms and Conditions."

"Pre-Orders. Beginning November 2, 2016, Glide will be running a pre-order campaign for CMRA (the “CMRA Pre-order Campaign”). The CMRA Pre-order Campaign will end when it reaches One Million Dollars, or December 2, 2016, whichever comes first (the “CMRA Pre-order Campaign End Date”). In pre-ordering a CMRA directly from Glide, including after the CMRA Pre-order Campaign End Date, you understand that you are contributing (that is, making a donation) to a campaign for a product in development and has not yet been manufactured, and that you are not making a purchase (a “Pre-Order“). Glide reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to reject a Pre-Order. If Glide accepts a Pre-Order, you may be charged immediately for the Pre-Order, and your reward under the Pre-Order will be the number of CMRA products you pre-ordered. Our estimated shipping date for your CMRA will be noted on the order page of our online store, but we may be in contact with you nearer the time of estimated shipping to update you about any delays. Notwithstanding the foregoing, you acknowledge that Glide alone, in its sole discretion, will determine whether it is able to fulfill your reward. If Glide determines that it is unable to fulfill your reward, then: (a) it will use commercially reasonable efforts to explore if there are reasonable alternative rewards it can provide, but there is no assurance that these will be possible; and (b) both you and Glide agree that this Agreement (including, but not limited to, the Controlling Law and Dispute Resolution provisions below at Sections ‎‎21 and ‎‎22) will still apply. If you cancel your Pre-Order before the CMRA Pre-Order Campaign End Date, Glide will refund you the amount paid for the Pre-Order. But for Pre-Orders you cancel after that date, you will not be entitled to any refund. Once we ship your CMRA, the Refund Policy will apply. Please contact support@getcmra.com for all inquiries about Pre-Orders."

"To be absolutely clear: if you make a Pre-Order, Glide cannot, and does not, promise that you will receive a CMRA."

The article asks who needs it. That is a ridiculous question. I can think of so many uses for it.
In a store, "Honey is this the correct shampoo", quick snaps of pets and kids or events.
Incorporate a barcode scanner app and that would be invaluable to me.

thanks for the post

Just a little bit of caveat emptor:

Thank you for sharing that. I will wait for the patiently for final production release.

I am not against the concept, so don't get me wrong. The bolded would make sense only if AW had cellular service, or it's own interface to connect to wifi. Until then, I can agree that it may not be the best accessory. Most stores have the wifi networks where you have to agree to terms and services in order to gain internet access (every time).

If I still have to carry my phone, it has a way better camera and camera interface.

I agree with you on everything.

The only thing is I don't think every picture has to be of the highest quality.

For me capturing the moment is more important than the quality. in saying that I'm saying no lower than 640 x 480

Not arguing with you, just discussing. With the current AW 3rd party app slowness, wouldn't it be quicker to pull your phone out, snap the pic, then later reduce the quality (if needed)?

Sorry if I came across that way.

I dislike the fact the watch isn't LTE capable.

My question is whether the speed of the 3rd party interface is a restriction on coding imposed by Apple or simply the limitations of the watch's processor.

I would like to be able to take a quick pict and then send it.

Siri - open camera
It opens the camera app
I snap the picture
quick review
Siri - send to Loren

Or

Siri - start video
Siri - stop video

Blue tooth it to the phone.

I think the first step in all this is that camera band being released and push Apple into improving the interface.

No, No. You didn't come across as argumentative. I just wanted to make sure I didn't.

I will agree, it could be somewhat useful if 3rd party apps were faster than it would take to take the phone out. If it was, that would be a great argument for it being somewhat useful. Once LTE is on the watch, it would be a necessity for me (to have a facetime camera and/or forward facing camera) on AW's.

Yeah, I'm a designer/photographer, and I believe the best camera is the one that you can fire off the fastest XD

Many a times I would think, hey that would be a great shot, but usually that decisive 2-5 seconds where that shot would be in its best composition, is not enough time for me to reach into my bag for my phone and fire off the camera.

Also the vantage point of shooting from the front camera while looking down, feels like shooting from the hip in a sense.

Anybody tried the third party Milanese bands from eBay? The official one looks so shiny, but I'm looking to get a matte band to match my black alu watch.

Or would shiny go well? Gah, I knew I should've picked the silver alu!

I decided to give that second one a try as well, but in brown... I hope I love it!
They showed up today ... initial impressions are that the classic buckle knockoff is very similar to apple's first gen classic buckle which I have to compare it to. The knockoff has a bit more texture to the leather and the leather is just a tad stiffer but the look and feel is very similar the other difference I noticed is the buckle is designed a little bit differently. I also noticed that the buckle strap is ever so slightly shorter on the knockoff and the holes are aligned differently. The lugs fit tight just like the original band and there isn't any extra gap or anything ... overall a great deal compared to apples original classic buckle band which I picked up from CEX for quite a bit more money than the aliexpress one.

Hope they end up way better than the photos!
They look and feel great, not sure how well they will hold up to abuse but considering apples pricing vs these I can buy tons of knockoffs and still be ahead.

Here's some pics of them:

Why are all the finishes on leather, nato, etc. made to match stainless steel. Does anyone know of any bands (not silicone) that have an aluminum finish to match sport model?
