days in, loving the app.

But I think it could add a useful feature:
a display of the time and date of the last news refresh, so you can tell how old the articles you're seeing are.

Is anyone else with this app experiencing ridiculously long back ups when syncing with iTunes? Although I've got an iPhone, for the sake of speed I've generally been downloading about half the available offline content categories. I assume this is being backed up when syncing, but as it's less than 200mb it's taking faaaar too long, to the point where I'm tempted to give up.

Just noticed this when syncing today. Backup has taken 20mins so far. Culprit must be Guardian app, so will have to look into the settings a bit more me thinks, or at least clear out its cache, if it has one.

I'm pretty certain it's due to the offline content, but there's no apparent way to delete the cache. I've sent an email to the dev, judging by the comments thread on the Guardian site he's pretty responsive.

In the meantime, I've disabled the backup process via Terminal (re-enabling it occasionally to backup) but this is hardly ideal.

I took the simpler route of just deleting the app. I'll wait for an update that allows cache clearing. I can't put up with backups that take that long and can't be bothered to muck around either.

you guys might want to check out Broadersheet if you want full offline article caching now. Broadersheet downloads guardian content.

I'm one of the developers: would love your feedback on app / why you didnt buy it.

I'd do the same, but I absolutely luuuurve the app and wouldn't want to be without it. Running one command in Terminal takes me about 10 seconds. Besides, I generally have it set to no backup anyone most of the time as syncing is miles quicker, backing up once a week or so.

AT LAST! Guardian app v1.02 is up, in the list of fixes it says;

"-Fixes caching issues during sync"

Hallelujah!
