... had to be done... as i've just placed an order for the dark grey'ish one. Has any UK customer had theirs delivered yet? Some people in the US have had theirs delivered, but thats understandable as they get everything first :p

EDIT: screenies added, im in for a long wait as you can see.

None of my local stores had them in stock so I ordered online here in the US. Haven't had it shipped yet though. Kind of a bummer but oh well, it'll get here eventually.

I tried my local store (Glasgow, UK) although they stated that stock won't start turning up till next week.
 
I ordered within 5 seconds of the store being up. I have just checked the status and it says "Prepared for Shipment"!

EDIT: I live in Australia. Maybe since the factory is in China it will arrive here sooner because its less distance than US
 
I went yesterday to see if they had the displays..nothing..I'm going check tomorrow...not sure I'll buy, but I want to see them in person
 
Just ordered mine and it ays estimated ship March 13th 2009 and i am in the US
 
I walked into Apple at 11AM and left with a black one. Impressed after two hours of use. For some reason the voiceover is just saying Playlist One - Playlist Two - ....
 
Ordered one of each color. One shipped today (silver) and the other says prepared for shipment (black). Which is cool cause the silver one was a gift so I'm glad that one at least shipped.

Dark grey? You mean black. I saw them in person today. One is black, the other is silver.

You have to enable voiceover to hear the actual titles, otherwise all you hear is the generic titles like you've described.

I got a silver one today, aka dark whitish. ;) So far so good. Every time I get a new iPod, I swear it sounds better than the others, but I think that has more to do with me cranking up the music out of excitement. That said, the Shuffle has always been favored by the audiophile set. Who knows what DAC chip the 3G uses?

One gripe; mine came with a small but noticeable nick in the edge of the aluminum. And I actually rejected 2 others for more noticeable scratches seen through the plastic box. As ususal, the first ones show signs of being rushed out the factory door.

Also, the clip is kinda lame. A shiny fingerprint magnet, very thin and sharp, and the "gripper" inside the clip is sharp, meaning if you pull it off your shirt too quickly without opening the clip all the way, you could snag it and damage your shirt. The 2nd gen Shuffle was far more nicely made IMO, especially the clip.
 
I just walked into a local store and picked one up, no ordering needed.

here are a couple of pictures. i think the 'face' looks really 'naked' and it almost looks better on the 'back' with the clip and :apple:

Discovered that Apple requires a small download through iTunes to enable Voiceover. Thanks!
 
Ok, so is the clip/back portion shiny????:confused: I can't tell from the website pics.

Which should I get? Is the black the color of the classic?

Got our shipment this morning. Bought myself a black one. Like it a lot.

VoiceOver is cool, if you double click while it's talking it will announce the next song, nice way to know what's coming up next.

This thing is tiny, barely bigger than the earbuds and really solid as you would expect from a tiny tube of aluminium. Weighs nothing, the shiny steel clip looks good against the black and yes it's really sharp.

It's gonna be a bugger to get the serial number off these things when we book em in for service. It's under the clip like in the old ones but this time on the main part so the clip gets in the way. And the lettering is the smallest I've seen yet. The silver ones are gonna be tough.

It's good. Pretty darned good.
 
I picked up a black one yesterday at the apple store in pentagon city. they wont be on display so ask if you dont see one.
 
Impressed on the shape factor plus FAT32 disk format which enable to be mounted on both operating system (Mac and Windows).
 
Arghhhh!

Called Apple Store yesterday and they said they would be surprised if they received their initial stock this week... so I went and placed my order last night...

Guess what

Phoned Apple store today and they got stock in today! Always happens with me.
