Just pick up a couple SEs now as backup. That's what I did. Even if they did make an SE2, it would be no good because they would add a pukenotch and remove the headphone jack. Smartphone tech plateaued ~3-4 years ago, so a current SE should be fine indefinitely.

Calling it the pukenotch just comes across as petulant and immature and it’s that sort of thing that makes all these SE threads extremely tiresome.

If I had to guess, 80% of people complaining about the SE's departure would be okay with the XS if they tried. It's a big screen but it's not that big of a device.

Very astute comment. Even the iPhone 5s is a very capable phone once again, what with the new life OS5 has breathed into it.
