NEW IMACS ARE COMING.

Today i went to the nearest apple retailer in my my area.(dicksmith). Where i was going to buy the current apple imac. but the sales rep TOLD ME y bother bying this generation imac when the new ones are coming out NEXT WEEK.

he also told me that the price of the current ones are going to drop.

But I doubt the Dick Smith guys know anymore than we do. When my gf was waiting for the unibody MB pros we were hounding the guy at our local Mac1 about it almost every day for a week but he knew about as much as I did.

Nevertheless, I will be down at my local DS PowerHouse tomorrow asking them what's up.

Seriously I don't understand how newbies get all this great information so easily, they must meet some pretty good (and 100% non fictional based) sources who are more than willing to not get a sale...

Someone posted an almost exact same rumor that it was going to happen Tuesday after SuperBowl. I believed it then. And back in October, everyone was convinced the new desktops were coming in November, but Apple told us no way.

I wonder if there would be a media event for desktops? If so, we would hear about invitations in next three days. BUT, that would probably only happen if there were some brand new technologies and designs Apple was going to show off.

Does anyone believe that new designs of the Apple desktops are coming? How about new Apple Cinema Displays? I am inclined to reason that there is no real new technology going to be used. However, I only believe that someone at an Apple Store would not know anything a week in advance UNLESS they found out the day media announcements/invitations were going to be sent out.

Anyone believe there will be a media event? Or, will this just be an online store update with press release next Tuesday offering speed bump type updates to the iMac and Mac Mini?

How about a media server or new Atom & Ion Mini? Or how about a new AppleTV?

Because it pays to not expect Apple to ever upgrade anything. It's better to assume that they'll upgrade when they want to upgrade instead of

I went in my local apple store yesterday and the person with the colored shirt on and a apple logo and badge (Must be an Apple rep with all the upcoming info) said that Apple is doing so well that wen the new mini comes out, Apple is giving every American a brand new Mini for free so that Apple can do it's part to jump start the economy. He called it the "Apple Bailout".

No, I'm just saying. A guy with a shirt and a badge in a NON-Apple Store reseller hasn't been told anything.

Workers at real Apple Stores don't even get told about new products until they are shipped them the Monday afternoon before release.
