Don't Apple employees find out for sure the day before ?

Even so, are they not sworn to silence until the product launches?

It's 18:28 in the UK, and our Glasgow Apple Store was none the wiser today ... or at least that's how the staff acted. Even right now, the two 20" and lower spec 24" iMac are shipping in 24 hours, only the high end 24" is a 3 day delivery.

I think the March 24th event may be more accurate, but then again it could be more rubbish.

They're fired if they're found to be leaking photos/information. Someone said they had to sign a form discussing this as they were employed by Apple Retail, and subsequently, had to leave MacRumors.

For what reason may Apple want to silently release an iMac refresh tomorrow if they are having an event later on this month ?
If they are going to have a desktop event which will get plenty of media coverage, don´t you think they would prefer to the iMac to reap benefits from that instead of just letting it appear without any announcements ?

I think the whole 3rd of march is bull rumors. Someone are having a lot of fun making up dates and seeing the whole apple community go haywire.

I wouldn´t mind being wrong, but I think I´m not.

I agree that if there's an Apple Event on the 24th then there will be no new iMacs tomorrow, unless the update to the iMacs is as irrelevant as we all thought and doesn't warrant it's own event, allowing Apple to focus on this "surprise" on the 24th.

I just noticed your sig saying you're waiting for the iPhone 4G. This is a topic I've discussed at length with friends and Apple using family members. The current iPhone is the second generation iPhone and is called the 3G because it uses third generation internet, or 3.5G if I'm correct. Is there such a thing as 4G internet, or are people just calling the next iPhone the 4G because the current one is called 3G?

Question, questions, questions. :D

If the Mac Pro is still rumored for March 24, then that event may be "pro"-centered.

These "last-minute" rumors are highly reliable though. But one time it said 5 MacBook models when only 3 were actually released…

SL is unlikely, seems like they're going to prep 5.5.7 first. Mac Pros seem on the card though, I doubt you'll be able to pick them up today, maybe order them if they are announced or view the specs?

I've asked a few times in the Glasgow store about various things they said they get their info from apple.com:cool:
they really do know nothing

I say that what I said is still valid

I didn't say they couldn't, I said they're threatened that if they do, and they're caught, they're fired...

It had nothing to do with the Apple Store being down...

LOL! dude! I talked with an Apple Rep last week.. as in SALES rep! They don't get fired for saying "Wait next week for the new refresh"!

One way or another, my "Confirmed!" original post was on the money!

kthankbye!

The iMacs are Coming!!!!!

Can't say it was worth the wait and with such a premium price (at least here in the UK) for a second rate technical spec.:(:(:(

Oh lord, please, be here for longer than 5 minutes, lurk more, then post.

When you're employed by apple you have to sign a form that states that you will not leak any information relating to products.

That doesn't mean to say people don't leak, but they sign a contract saying that they won't, if they're caught, they're fired.
