Pure fallacy.

Casuals won't use it once they realise they can't copy youtube links to send to their friends, or have to close Myspace just to open Notes, or doyble take when ESPN, Disney, CNN, and other popular websites are missing info and look like crap.

Business professionals, doctors etc can't use a device that can't multitask, or transfer files on its own without having to be hooked up to a real computer, like say a laptop or notebook.

Who exactly is spending $500- $800 for such a gimped product? A lot of you like to think of casuals as blind retards. Well, they aren't buying this, only the fanboys are.

Is there a Palm Pre forum that you hang out on where I can sign up and post baseless crap about their products? You make it look like so much fun.

Yes prophet, I'd like for you to come back to this archived thread in a few years to measure just how inaccurate your claims were.

I know a few people who would use this while their rather nice laptops (that I bought for them) languish upstairs. I can see this being a great present for my Mother and I reckon it would get far more use than her laptop - the books aspect could be great for my Grandmother who has lost a lot of her sight and cannot read easily if it can be zoomed nicely - maybe?

I was not impressed at first but now think exactly as stated at the beginning of the post - this product is not really for most of us and we are a small part of the market. It really could open up regular use of the internet to a lot of people that really don't use it as much as they could.

I will be interested to see how this device will fit into a home network and work with other devices and storage, as the supplied storage does not seem particularly vast.

That's the sort of conclusion I've come to myself. It's not the most fashionable market but Apple seem to have produced a comp for the ageing baby boomers. The boomers that is that don't want to do much 'real' computer work. The problem with this is that market (I think, and I'm thinking of my own mother) use their comps to keep in touch with family members but the ipad has no camera for video chatting! It's a huge mistake.

I completely agree with the OP (hi from the Spoiler Free thread) and Spooky69. My Mother is not exactly tech savvy and the only time she uses a computer is when she is forced to. She still looks at the Internet sometimes but doesn't want a laptop as she doesn't really understand them and wants something simpler. The iPad is for her. She wants a simple computer where she can look at the internet, check her emails, look at videos etc. And at this low price point this is even better for her.

Well hi there King Mook Mook! :D it is so weird to be able to discuss the iPad freely after those endless hours in the Spoiler-Free thread! lol...
anyway, I do agree with you. that's the simplicity of the iPad that some people are just not getting it, and they never will until they see those targeted costumers hurrying for the iPad and NOT for the Kindle nor the Nook not even to a MacBook coz it's just too complex for them. ;)

Hi King Mook Mook (from the spoiler-free thread)

I agree. I like it. I'm not sure it's for me, but I'll certainly play with the one I buy my mom to replace her aging crappy PC she uses for email that makes a noise like a hoover and takes up an entire corner of one room. One thing I read over and over again is its just a big iPod Touch. Just think about that for a minute. Apple have sold over 40 million iPod Touch's. I'm sure half of them would like the same but bigger, so there's 20 million sold there. How can that be a fail?

Apparently iPad has flash...

here's a link to everyone who ranting about no Flash in the iPad!

The iPad has Adobe's Flash

maybe Apple [steve jobs] deliberately visited a webpage with flash (while showing that its not supported yet), just to nudge Adobe in the right way and making their plugins better for macs, thus apple applying them on their iDevices, what do you all think?

PS. as for me, I would prefer it not having it, but meh...

I recently deleted the Flash plugin from my MBP as an experiment. It turns out that I visit flash websites extremely rarely. As a result, I don't care about flash.

Remember, people once spent $599 on an iPhone that could not multitask, couldn't copy and paste and didn't have flash.
