Internal error occurred.

I did the update for my iPad 2 with no problems took about 1 hour or less. However I am doing my iPhone 4 and it downloaded the software backed up my iPhone and then it came up with a error box :

The iPhone could not be restored. An internal error occurred.

Anyone get their's to work after they rec'd the error? Has anyone called Apple or can you even get through?

Same error here. Tried restarting my MBP, my iPhone 4, and iTunes, and nothing worked. Roommate has the same problem. I have class soon and I want it to work

One of our iphone4s upgraded with no issues at all. Just started our iPad 2 and can't get past this internal error.

Patience.

MY 3GS is having the same warning. Something most likely is corrupted in the download.

iPod touch 4th gen - same issue. I restored my iPod and told it NOT to backup first and voila. Fixed. Apparently it made a valid backup right after downloading iOS 5 that I was able to restore later.

My guess is there are too many doing it

Try later I say

+1

TBH, I only have the 4G touch 64GB. Picked it up today. Don't know why I'm in a rush to upgrade, don't exactly need the new features. LOL

It's annoying, hate to say it. I don't expect this from Apple.

BTW, iTunes was upgraded yesterday. Just did OSX (Lion) and restarted my iMac and still no luck. I'll wait later tonight.

AppleCare

Just got off the phone with AppleCare. They said their network is overloaded. The errors is not on our end.

It seems like my iTunes is not re-downloading iOS5 when I try again ( and it fails )...

I wonder if my first iOS5 download was corrupted & needs to be re-downloaded/over-written???

Where does iTunes keep the iOS 5 download? i want to delete and try to redownload it.

I think I found a workaround. Instead of just hitting restore or update in iTunes, press option and click restore. Then navigate to your .ipsw file which should be located in (your user name)/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates. I did this and it now is updating.

Spoke to apple care

They are aware of the problem, and hard at working getting it fixed. This always happens with new software updates to some people simply because of a mass overload of the system.
