I have been buying Apple products for 15 years. I don't purchase products regularly, but I have owned a product in every Apple category (laptops, desktops, iPhone, iPad, etc.) I have never been more ecstatic about a purchase than this new iPhone SE. I am upgrading from an iPhone 7 which you'd think would make an iPhone SE upgrade negligible and unexciting, but I am absolutely loving this iPhone.

I always buy base phones, so getting the faster processor, double the storage, 1GB extra ram, and all the other features makes it so much more enjoyable than the 7. Also, I feel that the additional mm in L and W + added weight is more comfortable to hold than the 7. I also prefer the glass back to the to 7's aluminum-- feels less slippery.

Overall, this is an amazing iPhone at an amazing price. I ordered mine from Walmart for $199 and it arrived in two days in mint condition. I also love the fact that as much as I love this iPhone now, I won't hesitate to sell it or give it to a family member (because it was so affordable) and buy the smallest iPhone 12 if I really want to take the next step with iPhone tech and spend 3 times the money.
Nobody who understands what's in the phone would think that upgrading from a 7 to the new SE would be negligible and unexciting. The tech in it is far more advanced and far faster than what's in the 7. Definitely a smart purchase.

I think going from 5s to 6 plus was my most exciting upgrade. The kinda funny to say that given how much money I spent on my xs max and it is not my most exciting upgrade.

I went from an 8 to an SE2 and still love it and think it's worth the upgrade. It's my favorite form factor by far, and while I don't dislike Face ID, I still prefer Touch ID. The bump in processor and ram is noticeable - not significant in normal day to day usage, but noticeable. And the camera software improvements are significant vs. the 8; no, not as much in bright daylight, as every modern phone can take good outdoor shots. But indoor and lower light shots are greatly improved, and even well-lit shots are better with stronger HDR, and some really nice portrait photo options. My 8's battery was showing signs of wear, so I traded it in and got a good amount off the SE2, which was less than what a new 8 would've been even before the trade-in... The SE2 is really a "win win" for anybody in a similar situation with similar preferences.

How Did you Get at Walmart for $199.000 I looked and am not seeing this deal. I'm very Interested!

It’s there. Input your carrier information in your ‘cart status‘, the Price is reflected before you actually proceed to check out.

True. Exporting 4K footage with lumafusion the 7 is way faster, this is when with specs they can sell you everything. Apps are opening 50ms faster on the SE 2020 and games are faster too.

It's a known bug/feature on the new SE...Apple could possibly enable it if enough number of customers ask for it and given that it works on other iPhones.

I hope so. Right now it’s the only thing aggravating for me atm. Everything else on the phone is great. Apps open way faster than my X and my phone doesn’t overheat all the time either

I would have a really tough time figuring out what is my favorite Apple purchase EVER, lol. As an exercise I just tried to list all the pieces of Apple hardware I've purchased for personal use, plus those provided for me by employers over the years. I counted 30 pieces of hardware (plus one clone!). I'm sure I'm missing some, the ol' memory isn't what it used to be. Then there's other hardware I've purchased for others close to me, which isn't in that list. Let's not forget any of the software I've purchased. It may be that the single piece of Apple software that delighted me the most was OS X 10.3 Panther (one of the few Apple products I actually stood in line for on opening day, back when OS X updates were not free and not annual): it was the debut of Exposé, still one of the most delightful features of all time.

The mind reels how many purchases I've made from Apple over the years.

As for the SE, I'm very happy with it so far. I expect to be using this phone for a few years, which is a good feeling.

EDIT: Oh, wait, forgot my cinema display! That's 31 pieces of Apple hardware plus one clone.

Upgraded my older parents' 6Ss with new SEs -- and took advantage of the great Walmart deal. It's like a BoGo! They love the quick response and easy set up -- and the fact that the upgrade was similar to what they were using, size-wise.
I'm sure my dad would happily trade me his iPhone 11 in exchange for the SE. He keeps saying his phone's too big. The thing is I don't want a big phone, either. 😅

Been digging the new SE so far. The biggest luxury upgrade from the old 6s is wireless charging, plus it seems to have better signal reception (maybe due to the additional bands). Certain apps also no longer stutter. I’ll be keeping this phone until Apple figures out a notchless display with under-the-screen Touch ID and camera optics.

For me, it has been a "solid" purchase.

Coming from the 1st gen SE, the new one feels fast. And the camera is much better. However I still don't like the form factor. Whereas I could securely grip my old SE in one hand, the new one with its bigger size and rounded corner just feels ultra-slippery in comparison. I've never liked the 6/6s/7/8 form factor and held off of purchasing any of these devices. I liked the X form factor a bit better. Xs? Too big. Still, I couldn't bear with the 16GB storage of my old SE, which had become a PITA lately. I've only had a few 100MB space available (and that's with cutting down on non-essential apps and photos). This has pushed me over to get the new SE.

The good: fast, future-proof, good camera, enough storage - and not too expensive
The bad: much worse form factor, no audio jack

If there's be a 12 in this size or smaller, but with squared edges, I'll probably get it that, regardless of price.
And sell my SE that is currently tiding me over. Thanks to its affordable price tag and current CPU, the loss of resale value shouldn't be too high.

As for my 1st gen. SE, I am going to keep it as a backup phone till it dies.

Can't compare new vs used. Apples and oranges. Plus figure in the cost of a new battery on the secondhand 8.
My 4 years old 7 has 86% battery health and even a official battery replacement is not a big deal. Yes, you can compare them as you can see on many vids. Open mind needed to see clearly there is only a software boosted camera in the SE 2020. It's an old technology and old hardware. I've tested myself, the 4K export in 2 different apps were way faster on the iphone 7!!! LOL.
