Come on guys, it's a camera phone... it's not like it's going to replace a real camera.

I would like to know who this Carl Weiss character is and how come his lenses are so good (the N95 has one).

Cute :)

We've not yet seen the calendar, notes or camera apps. Perhaps they're still being worked on. Perhaps, as others have said, they'll be dribbled out in the news to build interest every day until sales launch.

Regards.

I hope things are not still being worked on at this point! I'm sure the 3 million units are already on their way over from china

Maybe they don't quite understand their target audience?

Oh yeah, that's probably it.

It probably has more to do with AT&T wanting to watch their network load as the iPhone takes off. Making it less convenient to send photos will help reduce traffic during the initial spike their network will receive. Once AT&T is sure their network can handle the load, I'm pretty certain MMS will be added.

Sure, why not? I've bought several devices that updated themselves the first time they were plugged into the net.

Isn't that why you need an iTunes account, so they can update your software (and perhaps keep track of what overall things users do most, etc).

I wouldn't mind getting updated right away. They might even do it at the store for future customers.

I guess I was thinking more of hardware. They mentioned fixing audio quality - I'm thinking that would be a hardware fix, right?

But you're right, I wouldn't mind software updates right away either.

Since when does 2 megapixels give you 4X6 prints at 300 dpi??????? Have fun with that one.

Well, the average 2mp photo is 4:3, and roughly 1632x1224 pixels (my SE K750i). Divide those two numbers by 300, and you'll get 5.5" x 4", which is just a tad smaller than the average 6x4 print.

I would probably expect it to be at some point, but... with a full email client in there, why not email photos? (you can email to cell phone numbers from most carriers I think, if your recipients don't already have email on their phone too) Unless you can't add attachments to email from the iPhone, which would be lame, but didn't they demo this at some point? I can't remember. MMS between different carriers still sucks anyway, you end up with tiny crappy pics, or at least I do when my Sprint friend sends me pics.

The 2MP camera probably won't be any better than anything someone like Sony Ericsson offers, which is good enough if you just have to capture that moment, but if you expect to be taking photos, take a real camera with you. "Convergent device" cameras aren't quit there yet.

Well they've shown how you can send pictures via e-mail, by going to the photos section FIRST, and then clicking a button that says something like "send picture via e-mail."

BUT...
I wonder how you can ADD an attachment when you just go directly to e-mail, and compose a message? Looking over the demos of e-mail again, I don't see anything in the compose message sections where you can actually add an attachment. There's no paperclip symbol anywhere that I can see -- unless I'm missing it?

That seems kind of lame, if the only way you can send an image attachment is to go to the photos section first, and not through the e-mail section. Plus, what if you want to send more than one picture in an e-mail -- or are they just making that impossible? Also -- people were wondering if there were ways to place other files from e-mails (like PDF's, Word & Excel docs) "somewhere" on the iPhone, where you can access them as attachments to add to other e-mails later, or to read by themselves (and not within an e-mail). But this is starting to seem less and less likely...

Bummer. :(

Wouldn't it be awesome if the zoom function on the camera was using multi-touch? You pinch in or out to zoom and then move your finger to center the image---and then press the "capture" button...just a thought...

All of these reviews.... and STILL no mention of HOW a picture is taken!!

And I love the idea of zooming with multi-touch! Should be a feature in the 2nd gen phone!
