The key to MMS working

OK. My wife and I have iPhones. I did the carrier 5.0 file update on both. I was doing the whole switch sim trick and we were both getting and sending images. Mine has stopped working and hers is STILL going. I have even since jailbroke both phones and hers is still going.

Here is what I found. When I would access myATT site. The image that it shows you have as your phone is what stops MMS from working. My image is an iPhone and hers is some Samsung phone. Once mine changed back, I stopped receiving. Hers has never changed back, so she's been good.

This may be known to some of you, but it's what I discovered to be why for us, so no flaming.

I don't see why her's wouldn't have change back as well. AT&T can tell what phone you are using and changes the "image" automatically.
 
Lol the switching sim card trick doesnt work for long, once it recognizes the phone she is using is in fact an iphone, it will stop. Just call ATT and enable WAP push on your account wam bam thank you ma'am your done.

What if they say they can't do that because you have an iPhone?
 
then you just tell them you switch your sim in and out of your iphone into another and you would like it to be enabled, just keep trying that's all it takes

End of summer is more a perception to whoever is asking and the dates are suited to the person on which ones they would rather use.

Astronomical end of summer is around the 21st or 22nd. The rest depends. If your counting days then it ends this weekend, regardless of when it ends. ATT will give out MMS when they give it out.

I don't either. Since hers has not changed back...her MMS still works. Mine switched and stopped working.

MMS is already enabled on my acct. If I take my sim out and place into my old ATT phone, remove the iphone image from myATT site, I can receive an image. Tested several times. Once I switch back I can receive on the iphone. Once my phone turns back to my 3GS, MMS stops.

Exactly my point, once your account registers your using an iphone, its different on how long it will take to recognize with different people, but ive had MMS working since january of this year, and it's never stopped working.
 
I want to know what is different about the iPhone. I also want to know why the iPhone did not get MMS when it was first released. The first gen iPhone should of had MMS but lets faces it Jobs had a stick up his ass and though it was wrong so HE blocked it.

I have a gut feeling the change in the iPhone MMS is the pictures are not reduced in quality like normal MMS. That change will put a lot more strain on an already over tax system. Plus it could be the higher quality photos sent over MMS will use the same system that MMS is on other phones which means it will be even worse on handling it because that system was never designed to handle huge amount of data. (SMS and MMS go over a different system than normal data)

Apple has enabled MMS in the iPhone with 3.0, look over the pond to UK and other countries in which it is enabled... the problem was with ATT. This is why @ WWDC 09, they had a list of carriers supporting MMS and ATT wasn't one of them. It wasn't that Jobs didn't wanna give it out, it's that ATT isn't/wasn't ready.

LOL...everything about the iPhone and AT&T has been reduced in quality from what was promised, why would MMS pix be any different? I'll be surprised if they ever get it working without constant problems.

Thanks, but you could always become unjailbroken if you really want MMS... besides somehow I think when they do release 3.1, there will also be a carrier file released. By this time AT&T should have it in their systems to allow iPhones to send MMS by default, so the setup you have right now should work.

Yeah but what changed the question that still has not been answered and should be demanded to be answer is why was MMS not enable back when First generation of the iPhone was released? you know the old edge only iPhone.

Everyone bases AT&T but no one is hold apple to the fire for screwing up big time on day one.

No one has asked what makes MMS different than other phones. and yes I believe something is different..

Apple needs to come clean and tell what they changed and why they did not do it back on day 1.

True and I agree apple screwed up big time on not allowing MMS on the 1st gen iPhone, and I don't believe there excuse for one minute that "it's old hardware so it won't work". My 4 year old RAZR could easily send and receive MMS, and its internal architecture is much more older than that of the iPhone, so I call BS on that.

I hold AT&T more at a bash than I do Apple because at least Apple rectified their ways and allowed iPhone 3G and 3GS to allow MMS. It's on AT&T's fault why this is not enabled yet or why even tethering isn't either.

Tethering I pushed back to AT&T. But MMS I will hold both AT&T and apple accountable for it.

My gut is telling me what apple requires something different for the iPhones MMS. My guess is when an MMS is sent over the iPhone the quality is not reduced like on other phones. That means a huge strain on the system because the SMS system is not designed to handled those MMS (different network than data) so it is a bandwith issue for AT&T. Apple is not coming clean on it.

AT&T is taking a while to change their system to handle the huge boost in strain on their system to handle MMS. The iPhone just causes a huge amount of problem for data bandwithe. Voice takes very little but data takes a lot.
 
End of summer is labor day.

ATT did not say the absolute last day of summer though.
I sure miss Bellsouth Mobility's customer service and Cingular's commitment to upgrades. ATT took all that away when they bought up everything.

I think I read even one of the carriers in the country of Africa has mms.
When did we become so backwards here. ATT you made us look like fools and we are stuck with you. One more year and you will be asking yourself, where is everyone going.

Umm please check again when the end of summer is. Summer does not end until September 21 or 22nd. They still have most of this month to finish.

Not to sound like a fanboy, but I don't hold it to Apple because if it was Apple's fault, no other carrier would have MMS (were iPhone is supported). AT&T is the only one (if of few I believe) not to support it. If everyone else but AT&T supports it, its AT&T's fault.
