no where have i seen "end of summer". ive seen "late summer". just look at apples and at&t's sites. but then again we are in late summer until 9-21 of what year i dont know.

Not to sound like a fanboy, but I don't hold it to Apple because if it was Apple's fault, no other carrier would have MMS (were iPhone is supported). AT&T is the only one (if of few I believe) not to support it. If everyone else but AT&T supports it, its AT&T's fault.

Still you and everyone else is giving apple a free ride on this one and they should not have one.

I do not think the iPhone uses the same protocals all the other phones use for MMS.

The big one is Why did it take apple over 2 years to even put in MMS support in the iPhone. Something that should of been done back on day one. AT&T would of been fine if apple did it on day one but apple screwed the pouch on that one.

in the rest of the world MMS could run on different protocals so yet again it comes back to what did apple do for there MMS. They changed something.

Also remember everyone else in the world has a much smaller system to upgrade and change to deal with things like this. AT&T has to deal with the entire US. No other company has to deal with something even the size of Texas.

I still think the iPhone uses the same protocols as other phones do for MMS. You're correct that Apple dropped the ball and they should have put MMS since the beginning, but they didn't. AT&T is playing catch up, even though (im pretty damn sure) Apple told them ahead of time what was going to happen to the iPhone (MMS, Tethering, etc).

It's true that AT&T has to deal with a network the size of the US, but don't forget that Verizon also has to deal with one as large too. They've been upgrading their network constantly to improve and allow for better connections and voice calls. AT&T has not... until recently. Not Apple fault AT&T is slow at delivering upgrades to their network, knowing how popular the iPhone is.

So...I think I am going to give a call to ATT and ask if they can charge me 1/2 price on the SMS because I cannot use the MMS feature. On my Blackberry I was paying the same price and had the MMS capabilities.

I doubt it will go as planned...

:apple:

Guys, seriously, I have MMS on the iPhone right now and I can tell you- it sucks in sooo many ways...

Well for one if someone sends you an animation with a movie or video you cant watch the video with music. One, or the other...two people whom I have texted have sent my back messages that they have to login somewhere in order to see the message. Major battery drain if you are on Edge.

But, I'm not complaning too much I guess, considering its a hack.

Hmmmmmm....

I guess Apple just gave ATT an exclusivity contrract for FUN. It's called $$$$$$$$$$$$$. Apple got the best offer from AT&T knowing how their service worked. AT&T isn't the only big bad wolf. Someone had to entrust their business with them. And Apple did a deal with the devil.

When a company says late summer, I assume that to mean by Labor Day, the next day starts winter as far as marketing purposes go.

Now, I think Apple should have done MMS when the phone first came out, bad one for Apple, but I also think AT&T should have stepped up and officially allowed MMS and tethering (at no additional cost) the second 3.0 came out.

No you assume that because that is when school starts up across most of the nation.

marketing wise late summer means end of september. Please remember that. Of course expecting people to learn something simple like that in school....

Sorry, but you are headed for fail. :)

It may suck, as you say, but still it will be nice to have the ability to finally do it.

Agreed.

Yeah, it's the principle now that matters most. IF they somehow disable it now after I got it to work, I'm going AWOL on them..:D

...and then post my experience on MacRumors.

I have no idea what your talking about, i've never had any of these problems, the only problem i could possible see with sending MMS, it literally takes about 10-15 seconds to send, that's probably the only downside i could think of

When someone sends me a MMS video or .gif and it has sound, it comes in two separate messages.
